Effects of responsible human resource management practices on female employees’ turnover intentions

2017

This study focuses on the effects of socially responsible human resource management (SR-HRM) practices on female employees’ turnover intentions and the moderating effect of supervisor gender on this relationship. With a sample of 212 female employees from eight different industries in Finland, the results indicate that SR-HRM practices promoting equal career opportunities and work–family integration play a significant role in reducing women's turnover intentions. The study adds to the academic discourse of corporate social responsibility by highlighting the impact of the organizational-level HRM determinants on the individual-level outcome. In addition, supervisor gender makes a difference …

Early Career Women in Academia: An Exploration of Networking Perceptions

2016

This chapter explores women’s networking perceptions by focusing on early career women in social sciences. Within an exploratory research design it asks how early career women define the early career stage in academia, what definitions, meanings and interpretations they give for networks and networking, how they construct the networking process and their ability to establish and/or join networks, as early career researchers and as women. Based on two group interviews with 12 participants, our findings show that early career women in academia favour networking with peers based on shared interests (organic networking). At the same time though, they challenge and step over the perceived gender…

"Successful and feminine athlete" and "natural-born fighter" : a discursive exploration of female judoka's identities in Greece and Finland

2018

Despite feminist concerns about the asymmetrical distribution of power in martial arts and combat sports (MACS), sport psychology research has overlooked issues of inequality and socio-cultural difference, as well as their effects on athletes’ experiences and identity negotiation. The present doctoral dissertation explores the intersection of gender, culture, and identity in judo through the lens of cultural praxis and feminist poststructuralist frameworks. The aim was to explore in what ways the cultural context shapes the experiences and identities of female judoka (judo athletes). Two specific objectives were set: to trace the discourses (systems of knowledge) through which female judoka…

2008

With the improvement of fabrication techniques, the nanophotonics and more especially the photonics crystals which are periodic structure at the Wavelength scale have been recently developed. In this work, by using a scanning near-field optical microscope, we study such components. Firslty, we use the local probe to visualize the light distribution inside photonic crystal microcavities etched into semiconductor III/V. We focus us on the explanation of the near-field maps formation and on the probe influence on these maps. Thus, we have visualize degeneracy splitting of optical cavity modes and clearly observed in near-field cavity modes which were not visible in far-field. Moreover, in the …

2004

Recently, a new class of optical components is appeared. Its main characteristic is to be formed by a periodical sub-wavelength pattern, leading to the apparition of a spectral domain where propagation of light inside the structure is forbidden -- a photonic bandgap. This work is devoted to the study in the near- and far-field of two kinds of periodical optical components: photonic crystals (PCs) and nanostructured metallic films that exhibit the so-called enhanced transmission. First, we study two-dimensional PCs with a scanning near-field optical microscope (SNOM) in collection mode. With this SNOM, we directly map the intensity distribution inside PC-based microcavities. We also evidence…

Second Harmonic Emission From Dielectric Nanoresonators in the Absorption Regime

2023

We study second harmonic generation in dielectric nanocylinders as a function of the wavelength of the incident field and geometrical dimensions. Uncommonly, we consider a spectral range in which the emitted nonlinear signal is partially absorbed by the dielectric. Surprisingly, we reveal that the second harmonic efficiency does not decrease as the imaginary part of the complex dielectric refractive index increases. Indeed, the presence of higher order multipoles supported by the resonators at the fundamental wavelength can significantly boost the generated second harmonic signal even in the dielectric absorption spectral region achieving nonlinear efficiency of the same order of magnitude …

Optoelectronic devices based on caesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals

2020

Morfina, alkohol, kokaina, czyli pomieszanie z poplątaniem w "Matce" Witkacego

2016

2018

In "Las manos de mama" by the Mexican writer Nellie Campobello the figure of the mother is idealized and associated with nature, she is mother-nature who reminds the vision that AZtec civilitazion shared about Teteoinnan, the mother goddess, queen of the earth.
