Collective amplitude mode fluctuations in a flat band superconductor formed at a semimetal surface

We study the fluctuations of the amplitude (i.e. the Higgs-Anderson) mode in a superconducting system of coupled Dirac particles proposed as a model for possible surface or interface superconductivity in rhombohedral graphite. This system also serves as a generic model of a topological semimetal with an interaction driven transition on its surface. We show that the absence of Fermi energy and vanishing of the excitation gap of the collective amplitude mode in the model leads to a large fluctuation contribution to thermodynamic quantities such as the heat capacity. As a consequence, the mean-field theory becomes inaccurate indicating that the interactions lead to a strongly correlated state.…

Bakalaura darba „Droša un atbildīga auto satiksme: Ceļu satiksmes drošības direkcijas kampaņas „Skaties ceļam acīs!” piemērs” ietvaros tika noskaidrots kādi un cik lielā mērā ir bijuši efektīvi kampaņā „Skaties ceļam acīs!” ietvertie pārliecināšanas līdzekļi un kā tie ir ietekmējuši autovadītāju braukšanas paradumus. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tiek apskatīta teorija par sociālo mārketingu, kampaņām un to pārliecināšanas līdzekļiem, uzvedības maiņas teorijas, kā arī tieši Ceļu satiksmes drošības direkcijas raksturojums un kampaņu veidošanas stratēģijas. Pētījums veikts kā gadījuma izpēte, ietverot dažādas pētniecības metodes –intervijas, anketēšanu, fokusgrupas diskusiju un semiotisko analīzi.

Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādi pārliecināšanas paņēmieni izmantoti sociālajā kampaņā "Latvijas Labums" un kāda ir šo izmantoto paņēmienu iedarbība. Bakalaura darba teorētisko bāzi veido teorija par sociālo mārketingu, sociālajām kampaņām un tā instrumentiem, pārliecināšanas komunikāciju un pārliecināšanas paņēmieniem reklāmā. A new naphthol-based rhodamine derivative (NpRD) has been developed for the selective and differential detection of adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP) and adenosine phosphates (APs) (ATP, ADP, and AMP) from other nucleotides. The simple detection and quantification of cAMP in human blood cells and in other samples based on the ‘turn on’ fluorescence properties of this chemosensor through colorimetry or fluorometry makes it unique for probable application in high throughput screening. peerReviewed

Modeling and designing a robotic swarm: A quantum computing approach

Nature is a neverending source of inspiration for technology. Quantum physics suggests applications to- ward quantum computing. Swarms’ self-organization leads to robotic swarm developments. Here, quantum computing is applied to swarm robotics. We model local interactions with a quantum circuit, testing it on simulators and quantum computers. To relate local with global behavior, we develop a block matrix-based model. Diagonal sub-matrices contain information on single robots; off-diagonal sub-matrices are the pairwise interaction terms. Like Parents, like Teenagers: A Romanian Youth Smoking Overview

AbstractThis paper estimates how family model influences youth's smoking behaviors and describes smoking behavior in Romania nowadays. A questionnaire-based survey was used and data was collected from a national sample (1,364 people: 536 male and 828 female; average age 22,71 years and SD=3,128). The paper analyses only the items relevant for smoking behavior.Using a quasi-experimental design, we found a significant difference determinated by father's model (ρ(1364)= 0,158, p < 0,05), mother's model (ρ(1362)=0,155, p < 0,05), and brothers/sisters’ model (ρ(1362)=0,219, p < 0,05), regarding smoking behavior.Keywords: smoking behaviour, Romanian teenagers, parental model, Health Psychology

High Bias Voltage CZT Detectors for High-flux Measurements

In this work, we present the performance of new travelling heater method (THM) grown CZT detectors, recently developed at IMEM-CNR Parma, Italy. Thick planar detectors (3 mm thick) with gold electroless contacts on CZT crystals grown by Redlen Technologies (Victoria BC, Canada) were realized, with a planar cathode covering the detector surface (4.1 x 4.1 mm(2)) and a central anode (2 x 2 mm(2)) surrounded by a guard ring electrode. The detectors, characterized by low leakage currents at room temperature (4.7 nA/cm(2) at 1000 V/cm), allow good room temperature operation even at high bias voltages (> 7000 V/cm).
