The aim of this cross-sectional study was to compare oral findings in dialysis patients with healthy individuals and determination of the correlation of these findings and laboratory tests. Toothguide Training Box for Dental Color Choice Training

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of the Toothguide Training Box (TTB) for training dental students in color identification. The seventy-four volunteers who took part in the study attended a seminar on the Vita 3D Master Guide (MG) and the TTB system as well as a demonstration of the equipment before training began. At the end of the training they took the TTB final test. In addition, the participants were asked to recognize ten MG shade tabs in a blind manner before and after TTB training. The evolution of breast cancer mortality and morbidity in Spain (1977?1988)

A study of breast cancer mortality and cancer morbidity has been carried out in Spain recently for the period 1977-1988, covering the population of the 17 Autonomous Communities and 50 provinces of the country. Data was obtained from INE, Instituto Nacional de Estadística (National Institute of Statistics), with age standardization using the indirect method. The different Autonomous Communities and provinces were compared in order to establish possible significant differences. The crude mean mortality rate was 21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants/year; Las Palmas, Gerona, Barcelona, the Balearic Islands, Navarra and Zaragoza have the highest mortality rates, with a proportional increment of 54%…

Darbā tiek aplūkotas divdimensiju (2D) pārejas metālu halkogenīdu - volframa un molibdēna disulfīdu - īpašības un iegūšanas metodes. Ir demonstrēta šo 2D mikrokristālu sintēzes metode no gāzveida reaģentiem, kā arī izstrādātas jaunas metodes viendimensiju (1D) metālu oksīdu nanovadu core-shell heterostruktūru izgatavošanai, veidojot plānus disulfīdu pārklājumus uz ZnO nanovadiem, izmantojot ar reaktīvo magnetrona izputināšanu iegūtu pārklājuma sulfurēšanu vai attiecīgo pārejas metālu amonija sāļu pārklājuma termolīzi gāzveida sēra klātbūtnē. Nanovadi ir viendimensionāli nanomateriāli ar rādiusu nanometros un garumu mikrometros. Nanovadi ir vēlamas komponentes nanoelektromehāniskās (NEM) ierīcēs, piemēram, slēdžos. Šajās ierīces nanovadi kalpo kā aktīvie elementi, kas, mehāniski pārslēdzoties, spēj pārslēgt elektriskās ķēdes, tāpēc ir svarīgas nanovadu mehāniskās un elektriskās īpašības. Darbā tika pētīti CuO, GeSn un Bi2Se3 nanovadi ar mērķi tos pielietot NEM ierīcēs. Tika veikta CuO nanovadu sintēze ar termiskās oksidācijas metodi. Pusvadītāju nanovadi ir perspektīvi materiāli pielietojumiem nanoelektromehāniskās (NEM) ierīcēs. Lai nanovadi būtu piemēroti industriāliem pielietojumiem, nepieciešams izstrādāt tādas sintēzes metodes, kas nodrošinātu paredzamu iznākumu, morfoloģiju, elektriskās un mehāniskās īpašības sintezētajiem nanovadiem. Lai nodrošinātu NEM slēdžu darbību ekstrēmos apstākļos, nepieciešams iegūt plašā temperatūru diapazonā pielietojamus nanovadus. Pielietojumiem istabas temperatūrā tika pētīti CuO un ar Sn dopēti Ge nanovadi. CuO nanovadi tika sintezēti ar pārveidotu termiskās oksidācijas metodi.
