Composition of the essential oil from flowerheads of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. (Asteraceae) wild growing in Southern Italy

2004

The essential oils from the aerial parts of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. (Asteraceae) growing wild in two different localities of Southern Italy, Lascari (L) and Palinuro (P), were obtained by hydrodistillation in a 0.13–0.16% yield. The oils were analysed by GC and GC–MS; 68 constituents, amounting to 89.0% of the oil (L), and 43 constituents, amounting to 91.6% of the oil (P), were identified. The trans‐spiroketal–enol ether 2‐(2,4‐hexadiynylidene)‐1,6‐dioxaspiro[4,4]non‐3‐ene (trans‐tonghaosu) with chrysanthenyl and lyratyl esters and camphor were the main components of the oils.

Robustly correlated key‐medical image for DNA‐chaos based encryption

2021

Abstract Medical images include confidential and sensitive information about patients. Hence, ensuring the security of these images is a crucial requirement. This paper proposes an efficient and secure medical image encryption‐decryption scheme based on deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), one‐dimensional chaotic maps (tent and logistic maps), and hash functions (SHA‐256 and MD5). The first part of the proposed scheme is the key generation based on the hash functions of the image and its metadata. The key then is highly related and intensely sensitive to the original image. The second part is the rotation and permutation of the first two MSB bit‐plans of the medical image to reduce its black backgr…

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of hydroxyethyl starch in hypovolemic pigs; a comparison of peripheral and intraosseous infusion.

1999

Intraosseous (i.o.) infusion is considered a useful technique for the administration of medications and fluids in emergency situations when peripheral intravascular access is not possible. This study investigated the effectiveness of i.o. versus intravenous (i.v.) infusion of hydroxyethyl starch (HES 200/0.5) in hypovolemic pigs. Twenty-three pigs (8- to 9-week-old) were anaesthesized, instrumented and blood was withdrawn (25-30 ml/kg) to50 mmHg mean arterial pressure (MAP). The animals were left untreated in haemorrhage for 30 min. Relevant haemodynamic parameters were monitored and blood samples were collected for blood gas and HES concentration analysis. Infusion of HES via i.v. or i.o. …

RAVITA Technology : new innovation for combined phosphorus and nitrogen recovery

2018

Abstract Present phosphorus (P) recovery technologies mainly contain P recovery from sludge liquor or ash. These types of technologies are suitable for large wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) with enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR), digestion and/or incineration. In Finland and other Nordic countries, strict P discharge limits require chemical precipitation, thus EBPR alone is not sufficient. Ammonium recovery from wastewater, on the other hand, is not so often discussed. However, recovery from WWTP reject waters would decrease the energy demand of ammonium synthesis by Haber-Bosh technology and the energy demand of the WWTP's biological process. Chaos dans les ventes de biens à la mode et implication pour le contrôle de gestion

2011

Objective - This article aims at showing that management control should drop cybernetic control for some activities of good sales. Study design - Reviewing Sutherland's (1975) and Hofstede's (1978) articles, it seems that activities of good sales can be controlled by a cybernetic control, like program-planning-budgeting systems. If sales of fashion goods were linear, like Miller et al.'s (1993) model, their forecasting would be possible and useful. However, two other models show that these sales could be chaotic (Granovetter and Soong ; Nakayama and Nakamura, 2004). In these models, the sales of fashion goods could be unpredictable beyond short intervals. The presence of chaotic patterns in…

Water leaching of roasted vanadium slag : Desiliconization and precipitation of ammonium vanadate from vanadium solution

2023

This research investigated water leaching of roasted vanadium slag and studied the effects of leaching parameters, such as agitation speed, temperature, liquid-to-solid ratio, and leaching time. Further, solution purification via desiliconization and precipitation of ammonium vanadate were studied using the vanadium solution obtained from the water leaching of roasted vanadium slag. Vanadium solution contains residual silicon (1.67 g/L), which should be removed before ammonium vanadate precipitation. Based on the results, vanadium can be effectively recovered from vanadium slag and a recovery efficiency of 96.9% was obtained under optimal water leaching conditions. During solution purificat…
