Valoración clínica del estado dental y periodontal en un grupo de pacientes oncológicos, previo inicio de la quimioterapia

Objetivos: Valorar el estado bucodental en 88 pacientes con cánceres corporales, previo al inicio de su tratamiento quimioterápico. Diseño del estudio: Estudiamos 88 pacientes con cánceres de diferentes localizaciones corporales y los comparamos con un grupo control. Analizamos la placa dental (mediante el índice de Silness y Löe), el estado dental (mediante el índice CAO.D) y el estado periodontal (índice CPI modificado). Resultados: En el grupo de pacientes oncológicos, la media del índice de placa de Silnness y Löe fue de 1,28±0,11. En este artículo se desarrolla el análisis comparado de dos testimonios de la fábula oriental basada en la leyenda de “El gesto de la muerte”: la recogida por el místico sufí Yalal al-Din Rumi en el siglo XIII, y su adaptación al cómic por parte de Marjane Satrapi en el álbum Pollo con ciruelas (2003), que obtuvo el “Premio al Mejor Álbum” en el Festival del Cómic de Angoulême en 2005. Islamic investment funds have become increasingly important because of high demand from many investors, including those outside the Muslim investment community. This article compares the performance and risk sensitivity of Islamic mutual funds in the United States with that of their conventional peers. This article also analyzes the performance of Islamic funds, and compares this performance with that of socially responsible investment (SRI) mutual funds. L'etica della valutazione nello specifico psicoterapeutico

Psychotherapy research raises many ethical issues. In the past, ethics was considered an ancillary part of scientific research, but today is a precondition and a foundation for research. In this paper, the Authors highlight some core ethical questions for clinicians and researchers, such as the use of control procedures in experimental designs, the need to protect the rights of patients, and researchers’ conflict of interest. The importance of studying what therapies work for specific patients and what therapeutic processes facilitate patients’ change are outlined. Findings of psychotherapy studies can help psychotherapysts to address ethical concerns, by showing what we do and why.
‘My skin is hard’ - adult learners’ resistance to racialization and racism

This article analyzes experiences of racialization in stories of adult learners with refugee experience who attend a basic education program at a Finnish community college. Throughout a two-year ethnographic study, several students shared stories and thoughts on racialization and racism with the white researcher on site (the author). This article tells and theorizes their stories to gain a deeper understanding of the workings of everyday racialization and racism in a Finnish educational context. This presentation aims at discussing the opportunities and limitations of football players in East Germany, Hungary and Romania in the period between the end of World War II (1945) and the collapse of the Eastern bloc (1989).
