Immunohistochemical expression of Cytokeratins in periapical lesions
2011
Objective. This study seeks to clarify the histological origin of apical lesions, through the expression of certain cytokeratins.Study design. In 3 years 30 patients were selected. After clinical and radiological exams were chosen patients who had severe apical lesions and tooth decay with exposure of the pulp chamber left untreated for very long periods (more the 12 months). Serial slides were prepared both for immunohistochemistry and Hematoxylin- Eosin. Material and methods. Twenty specimens coming from the 30 patients were used for our purpose. All periapical lesions were surgically extracted and fixed in Bouin mixture, and embedded in paraffin. Samples were processed immunohistochemica…
IRSp53 shapes the plasma membrane and controls polarized transport at the nascent lumen during epithelial morphogenesis
2019
AbstractEstablishment of apical–basal cell polarity is necessary for generation of luminal and tubular structures during epithelial morphogenesis. Molecules acting at the membrane/ actin interface are expected to be crucial in governing these processes. Here, we show that the I-BAR-containing IRSp53 protein is restricted to the luminal side of epithelial cells of various glandular organs, and is specifically enriched in renal tubules in human, mice, and zebrafish. Using three-dimensional cultures of renal MDCK and intestinal Caco-2 cysts, we show that IRSp53 is recruited early after the first cell division along the forming apical lumen, and is essential for formation of a single lumen and …

Apical thrombus in a patient with takotsubo cardiomyopathy
2008
We report a case of apical thrombus formation among a group of 15 patients with takotsubo cardiomyopathy who were referred for a suspected acute coronary syndrome over a 2.5-year period. To the best of our knowledge, no data are available regarding the treatment of this syndrome. According to current literature and our reported experience, the use of anticoagulant therapy administered until complete resolution of wall motion abnormalities appears to be appropriate to treat apical thrombus formation and any possible subsequent embolism. © 2008 Italian Federation of Cardiology.
Immediate implants placed in fresh sockets associated to periapical infectious processes: a systematic review
2013
Objetives: The development of treated implant surfaces, added to the increase of the aesthetic requirements by the patients has led to a change in the treatment protocols as well as the development of techniques such as the onefase implants and the immediate prosthetic loading. One of the usual contraindications of the implant treatment is the presence of periapical disease associated to the tooth to be replaced. The aim of this paper is to review the published literature on immediate implant placement in extraction sockets of teeth with periapical pathology, considering the level of scientific evidence, and following the principles of medicine and evidence-based Dentistry. Material and Met…
[The effect of instrumentation on original apical foramen shape using steel vs niti rotatory: computerized analysis]
2002
BACKGROUND. A fundamental requirement to obtain a correct endodontic preparation depends on the respect, during cleaning and shaping, of the original morphology of the apical foramen, (AF), so that the filling material will form a complete seal. METHODS. In our previous studies, in order to verify if this presumption was respected using rotary NiTi instruments with cutting tip, we instrumented extracted teeth characterised by a different degree of root curvatures. Using a standardized system to replace the sample, the original shape of the apical foramen of each tooth was recorded using a computerised technique and then compared to the shape after instrumentation. The data showed difference…
An update in periapical surgery
2006
Periapical surgery has largely improved at all levels due to new technologies provided by researchers throughout the last years. The aim of this article is to carry out a bibliographic revision of the last seven years. For this reason, we will analyse the studies published in Medline and the most important spanish dental magazines. The subjects to investigate are mainly based on the incorporation of ultrasonic root-end, which allow the performance of small and adjusted retrograde cavities; as well as the new filling materials. We also include magnifying glasses or surgical microscope to the work material, plus surgical laser and the application of guided tissue regeneration.
A adaptação marginal do MTA em dentes imaturos = Adaptación marginal del MTA en dientes inmaduros
2015
Demonstration of a correlation between young leaves, apex and young bunches specific to a young grapevine cutting in the first period of its developm…
2001

The development of hardwood cutting of grapevine comprise 4 succesive phases. Phase I: first period of shoot extension. Phase II: characterized by a slow growth due to a very low activity of the terminal bud. Phase III: reactivation of the growth consecutive to a resumption of the apical activity. Phase IV: when the growth becomes maximal.

The objective of this work has been to identify the cause of the slowdown of the activity of apical bud during the phase II.

In a first experiment, we have compared the effects of three modes of defoliation applied from the b…
Effect of post space preparation on apical seal : influence of time interval and sealer
2007
Objective: To assess the efficacy of two sealants to preserve the apical seal after root canal preparation and cementation of posts at 24 h or 72 h after endodontic treatment. Study design: Sixty human single-root teeth were instrumented and obturated using lateral compaction technique with EndoFill® [30] or AH-Plus® [30] and were prepared in one of three ways, leaving a 3 mm gutta percha remnant in all cases: without cast post preparation, with preparation after 24 h or after 72 h. After cementing the posts, the specimens were thermal cycled at 5 and 55?C in water baths, submerged in 2% methylene blue dye for 72 h, embedded in acrylic resin and cut transversally into three 1-mm apical sect…
