Le metope del Tempio C: dal Museo della Regia Università al Museo Nazionale di Palermo

The story of the metopes of Temple C at Selinus, from the discovery by S. Angell and W. Harris in the spring of 1823 to their landing in the port of Palermo, is well known trough Marconi studies. The aim of this paper is to analyze the exhibition history of Selinus reliefs, from the first arrangement in the Museum of the ‘Regia Università’ to their placement in the National Museum of Palermo (‘Museo Archeologico Regionale A. Salinas’ since 1977).

The review of bronze finds from the excavations carried out in the contrada Gaggera sanctuaries from 1888 until 1925 as well as in the sixties and seventies of the last century, and the reading of old excavation notebooks have allowed the identification of a huge number of unpublished weapons. This evidence has also been considered in relation to what has been published by Ettore Gabrici in the 1927 edition of the Malophoros sanctuary. The study better clarifies the finding context of these materials (from the sanctuary of Demeter Malophoros or from the sacred area of Zeus Meilichios) and provides an overview of the different types of weapons. The Harvesting Memories Project (funded by Bona Furtuna LLC) aims to investigate the long-term landscape transformations in the central part of the Alto Belice Corleonese (Central-Western Sicily). The case study area is formed by a sequence of gentle hills (Contrade Castro and Giardinello), rich in water springs that offer an optimal condition for agricultural exploitation, irregularly interrupted by the Mt. Rilevamento e modellazione 3D del teatro antico di Palazzolo Acreide. Problematiche nell’elaborazione e gestione dei dati laser-scanning.

Lo studio descrive le operazioni di rilevamento con tecniche topografiche, laser-scanning e fotogrammetriche, condotte a fini conoscitivi e divulgativi sul teatro antico del sito archeologico di Palazzolo Acreide (SR). Il risultato del rilievo è consistito nella realizzazione di un modello 3D foto realistico del teatro, georiferito nel sistema cartografico UTM-ED50 con l’impiego di tecniche GPS. Come ben noto, le procedure per la realizzazione di modelli di beni culturali ad alta risoluzione, contenenti dati metrici e qualitativi sullo stato di conservazione dei beni stessi, richiedono tuttavia operazioni di editing, alle volte assai onerose dal punto di vista computazionale ed operativo.
