In the decades subsequent to the unification of the Kingdom of Italy, achieved in 1861 with the proclamation of Vittorio Emanuele II as the king of the new State, the Italian peninsula became covered with many commemorative monuments. These were devoted, first of all, to honour the men who played a leading role in the heroic deeds of the Risorgimento but also to remember the places where the major historical events occurred. La Casa della Piscina di Sabratha: anticipazioni e problemi

Si descrive compiutamente per la prima volta una ricca domus a peristilio, posta a sudovest del Teatro di Sabratha, che costituisce l'esempio più rilevante di architettura domestica di lusso dell'intera Tripolitania al momento noto. Alla descrizione, corredata da alcune planimetrie "storiche", si affiancano i dati desunti da alcuni sondaggi condotti dall'autore. Questi permettono di confutare la datazione al I sec. d.C. proposta in passato e collocare l'impianto della domus tra la fine del II e gli inizi del III sec. d.C. The subject of the chapter is the study of all the materials collected in the so-called “stipe of the Athenaion” found on the acropolis of Gela during the excavations conducted in the 1960s. The materials are examined and an interpretative hypothesis is advanced on the divinity to whom the offering is addressed.
