Whereas value distribution process has an effect on the production process, the organizational context emphasises a peculiar dimension. Resolution of singularities for multi-loop integrals

We report on a program for the numerical evaluation of divergent multi-loop integrals. The program is based on iterated sector decomposition. We improve the original algorithm of Binoth and Heinrich such that the program is guaranteed to terminate. The program can be used to compute numerically the Laurent expansion of divergent multi-loop integrals regulated by dimensional regularisation. The symbolic and the numerical steps of the algorithm are combined into one program.

Childhood adversities have been linked with adverse life events, but less is known about the long-term effects of childhood home atmosphere in terms of work career. We investigated whether childhood adversities and home atmosphere were associated with disability or unemployment pension. In the Helsinki Birth Cohort Study (born 1934–44), 2001 cohort members had data available on 9 childhood home atmosphere items e.g. whether it was supportive or warm (sum score 0–36, higher score indicating more favorable atmosphere), and 9 childhood adversities e.g. unemployment, parent’s long-term illness or divorce (sum score 0–9, coded into no; one; and two or more) assessed in 2001–04. Phrasal prosody constrains word segmentation in French 16-month-olds

Infants who are in the process of acquiring their mother tongue have to find a way of segmenting the continuous speech stream into word-sized units. We present an experiment showing that French 16-month-olds are able to exploit phonological phrase boundaries in order to constrain lexical access. Using the conditioned head-turning technique, we showed that infants trained to turn their head for a bisyllabic word responded more often to sentences that contained this word, than to sentences that contained both syllables of this word separated by a phonological phrase boundary. By 2014 the LHC will collide proton bunches at 14TeV with an increased instantaneous luminosity up to 3·10³⁴cm⁻²s⁻¹. The resulting higher event rate will challenge the existing ATLAS trigger system. A reduction on the trigger rate can be achieved by selecting interesting channels based on their expected decay topology and thus reducing background. This will be achieved by introducing of a new FPGA based module in the Level-1 trigger: the Topological Processor L1Topo. With L1Topo it will be possible for the first time to concentrate detailed information from the entire calorimeters and the muon detector into a single module. The weathering degree of the building materials and natural stones is generally quantified as the decrement of some mechanical features that can be measured experimentally by means of compressive tests or point load tests in the laboratory or Schmidt hammer tests carried out in situ. Such destructive or damaging tests are unacceptable in case of cultural heritage since even small amounts of damage must be avoided. Sulphur was important in several fields: military, tanning, wool’s disinfection and many other activities. Nevertheless, the largest quantity of sulphur was used in agriculture, particularly in viticulture as it was used to combat fungal diseases especially in wine production areas. Sicily, and in particular the area surrounding Agrigento, was the main site of sulphur extraction. This built strong relationships with Rome and other agricultural centres in the Mediterranean Sea.
