Towards an extensible simulator of real motion platforms

Abstract The limitations of a real motion platform will not normally be discovered until it is completely built and tested. Late identification of its limitations imposes the necessity of a redesign of the motion platform. This, in turn, incurs important and significant economic costs for the manufacturer. Car following: Comparing distance-oriented vs. inertia-oriented driving techniques

The rationale behind most car-following (CF) models is the possibility to appraise and formalize how drivers naturally follow each other. Characterizing and parametrizing Normative Driving Behavior (NDB) became major goals, especially during the last 25 years. Most CF models assumed driver propensity for constant, safe distance is axiomatic. This paper challenges the idea of safety distance as the main parameter defining a unique (or natural) NDB. The paper presents a study on the effects of double earth faults in Medium Voltage (MV) networks, in presence of electrical interconnection of the earthing systems of the secondary substations. VISOCAR: an autonomous industrial transport vehicle guided by visual navigation

The authors describe a vision system, called VISOCAR, for mobile robot guidance in industrial environments. VISOCAR is an optically navigating AGV (automatically guided vehicle) that, owing to its local intelligence, can travel automatically in its natural environment, does not need any dedicated floor installations, and does not impose any restrictions on the route network or factory environment.
