L'articolo illustra i risultati dell'attività di ricerca condotta dall'autore che hanno dato vita alla SBskin. Smart Building Skin s.r.l., spin off accademico dell'Università di Palermo, selezionata per la partecipazione al Premio Sapio 2018. Vengono descritte le caratteristiche dei prodotti brevettati utilizzabili per la realizzazione di facciate e coperture di edifici, di elevata qualità estetica e tecnologica, utili a ridurne le richieste energetiche e in grado di produrre energia pulita dal sole.

Historically, building shape and structure have been designed, in solid construction, at the same moment. Their relationship is evident in the organization of the building inner space. On the contrary, in filigree construction, the interior space isn't often directly defined by the structure and the separation between building's interior and exterior is much more clear especially if we consider contemporary architectures where filigree structures are frequently used. Palermo University and Compasso Volante

The University of Palermo joins since few years the Compasso Volante Competition, that is still keeping, in different ways, its original spirit. The city of Palermo has represented in two different Editions the project site and, last year, Palermo hosted for the second time the Award Ceremony. Palermo has been made available to the awarding of the XV Edition, thanks to the enthusiasm and pleasure that students and professors have shown in the past. I caratteri dei teatri storici minori nell’area palermitana

Degli oltre cento teatri censiti in Sicilia, pochi permangono a testimoniare i caratteri e la diffusione capillare del teatro all’italiana. Sia negli esempi magniloquenti che in quelli più modesti è possibile rintracciare elementi di particolare valore storico e artistico. Tuttavia se l’involucro perimetrale in muratura e la copertura lignea sono realizzati secondo la tradizione edilizia codificata, molti degli elementi caratterizzanti il teatro seguono criteri di costruzione assai originali. A Palermo è possibile ritrovare una storia di tecniche desuete che confermano la presenza di costanti tipologiche di una storia costruttiva parallela a quella illustrata da trattati e manuali.
