SOMMARIO In un complesso edilizio ampiamente manomesso del centro storico di Palermo, sono state scoperte consistenti tracce di un palazzo trecentesco di cui s'era persa memoria. Sono leggibili, tra l'altro, due ordini di archi ogivali e raffinate decorazioni in pietra lavica, di qualità sorprendente. Elementi che, se rinviano a celebri esempi coevi della tradizione siciliana, possiedono caratteri di assoluta originalità. Tali comunque da far pensare ad un'architettura di grande rilevanza.

<p>In this work we focus on experimental studies of polymer-nanocomposites intended for passive protection of civil structures. The material consists of a polyurea-matrix enhanced by different quantities of multiwalled carbon nanotubes. Several tensile and cyclic tests are performed to evaluate and characterize the mechanical behaviour of this new material. Furthermore, we subject the material to accelerated thermal aging and study its performance deterioration which is fairly unknown. The results on the unaged specimens are intuitive and indicate that an arbitrary amount of CNTs may result in suboptimal performance. In questo contributo si espongono le caratteristiche fisiche, le prestazioni meccaniche e il processo produttivo di aggregati leggeri di polietilentereftalto denominati alPET, ricavati principalmente dal riciclaggio di imballaggi per bevande. Attraverso l'analisi delle loro proprietà, si evidenzia la possibilità d'impiegare questi aggregati per la produzione di conglomerati bituminosi e cementizi destinati a componenti strutturali portanti dei viadotti stradali.
Recycling mussel shells as secondary sources in green construction materials: a preliminary assessment

This paper reports the development of novel green bio-composite mortars obtained by reusing mussel shells, a waste from the fish canning industry, as recycled aggregate, used for the first time in total substitution to the traditional sand. It suggests that this is a valid alternative to their usual disposal in landfills because the organic matter is potentially dangerous to humans and the environment. Different waste-based cementitious mixes were tested and compared to a traditional OPC mortar.
