Quality of Life in COVID-Related ARDS Patients One Year after Intensive Care Discharge (Odissea Study): A Multicenter Observational Study
2023
Background: Investigating the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after intensive care unit (ICU) discharge is necessary to identify possible modifiable risk factors. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the HRQoL in COVID-19 critically ill patients one year after ICU discharge. Methods: In this multicenter prospective observational study, COVID-19 patients admitted to nine ICUs from 1 March 2020 to 28 February 2021 in Italy were enrolled. One year after ICU discharge, patients were required to fill in short-form health survey 36 (SF-36) and impact of event-revised (IES-R) questionnaire. A multivariate linear or logistic regression analysis to search for factors associated wi…
Adjuvant Imatinib in Patients with GIST Harboring Exon 9 KIT Mutations : Results from a Multi-institutional European Retrospective Study
2022
[Purpose] The effect of high-dose imatinib (800 mg/day) on survival in the adjuvant treatment of patients with resected KIT exon 9–mutated gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) is not established. Here, the association of dose and other clinicopathologic variables with survival was evaluated in a large multi-institutional European cohort.
Sabiedrisko attiecību projektu vērtēšana. Baltic PR Awards 2016. gada finālistu gadījumu pašnovērtējuma analīze
2017
Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Sabiedrisko attiecību projektu vērtēšana. Baltic PR Awards 2016. gada finālistu gadījumu pašnovērtējuma analīze”. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā sabiedrisko attiecību kampaņu autori vērtē savas kampaņas, piesakot tās konkursā Baltic PR Awards, kā arī uzzināt galvenos kritērijus, kuri tiek izmantoti sabiedrisko attiecību kampaņu vērtēšanā. Darba teorētiskā bāze sastāv no nodaļas par sabiedriskajām attiecībām, sabiedrisko attiecību instrumentiem, kampaņām un novērtēšanu. Empīriskajā daļā analizēti pētījuma gaitā iegūtie dati. Darba pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka Baltic PR Awards finālisti kampaņu vērtēšanā nav pieļāvuši būtiskas kļūdas. Atslēgas vārdi: Sabiedriskās at…
A high salivary calcium concentration is a protective factor for caries development during orthodontic treatment
2020
Background This research aimed to evaluate the salivary concentrations of fluoride (F-), calcium (Ca2+), and phosphate (Pi) after brackets bonding, and to identify the role of [F-], [Ca2+], and [Pi] on the development of active caries lesion (ACL) in individuals under fixed orthodontic treatment. Material and Methods A longitudinal investigation with twenty-two individuals from 11 to 22 years of age was performed in four phases (baseline and after 1, 3, and 6 months). Analyses were carried out considering the salivary concentration of [F-], [Ca2+], and [Pi], as well as the caries index. Data were analyzed using the Friedman test, followed by the Wilcoxon test and the multivariate Cox model …
An interlaboratory study as useful tool for proficiency testing of chemical oxygen demand measurements using solid substrates and liquid samples with…
2009
In 2008, the first Proficiency Testing Scheme of Chemical Oxygen Demand (1stCOD-PTADG) was conducted to assess the results obtained for different research groups whose field work is mainly anaerobic digestion. This study was performed using four samples, two solid samples as raw materials and two solid samples to prepare high concentration suspended solid solutions. Invitations were sent to a large number of laboratories, mainly to anaerobic digestion research groups. Finally, thirty labs from sixteen countries agreed to participate, but for different reasons four participants could not send any data. In total, twenty-six results were reported to the COD-PT coordinator. This study showed th…
Transformando las prácticas de evaluación en las agencias de innovación para fomentar transiciones hacia la sostenibilidad
2019
The aim of the study is to identify different styles and practices for evaluation of innovation policies based on different orientations, focusing on the case of the paradigm of transformative change to foster transitions towards sustainability, and the problems associated with its application. The study is exploratory, and it uses public funding agencies for innovation as strategic research settings. Based on the information provided by the experience of an international consortium participated by funding agencies from different countries, the main concepts and problems presented in the theoretical debate are illustrated. Finally, the main contributions of the study to the theory and pract…

The prevention of labor risks in chile: Some reflection on the employer'S security obligation
2021
The prevention of occupational hazards is a basic right of workers, connected with the right to life. It is important to know how it is regulated in the Chilean law, and analyze its most important characteristics. Universidad Pablo de Olavide
Working on the "dark place" of southern European metropolitan cities. An analysis of informal practices and critique on approaches of public housing …
2018
The debate on housing practices of self-help mainly focalizes on Southern countries of the world, while in the Northern countries informal practices are still marginal or neglected compared to their proactive roles that could play in reframing public policies. Although this phenomenon has been recently re-evaluated in Europe, especially as antagonism between legality and illegality and rights, the housing practices of self-help could be a promising approach to solve housing deprivation in many metropolitan cities where the gap of income between rich and poor is keener. However, in Italy and in other European countries, squatters are illegal persons and therefore it becomes more complicated …
Serotoninergic innervation of nonprincipal cells in the cerebral cortex of the lizard Podarcis hispanica.
2004
The mechanism of serotoninergic transmission in the neo- and archicortex of mammals kis complex, including both synaptic and nonsynaptic components, direct actions on principal cells, and indirect effects mediated by GABAergic interneurons. Here we studied the termination pattern and synaptic organization of the serotoninergic afferents in the cerebral cortex of the lizard, Podarcis hispanica, which is considered to correspond in part to the mammalian hippocampal formation, with the aim of unraveling basic, phylogenetically preserved rules in the connectivity of this pathway. We demonstrate that serotoninergic afferents, visualized by immunostaining for serotonin itself, establish multiple …
