Suitability of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy for criticality dosimetry was evaluated for tooth enamel, mannose and alanine pellets during the 'international intercomparison of criticality dosimetry techniques' at the SILENE reactor held in Valduc in June 2002, France. These three materials were irradiated in neutron and gamma-ray fields of various relative intensities and spectral distributions in order to evaluate their neutron sensitivity. The neutron response was found to be around 10% for tooth enamel, 45% for mannose and between 40 and 90% for alanine pellets according their type. Association Between Self-Assessed Health and Attitude Towards Own Health

This paper explores association between health and attitude towards own health in two dimensions – taking care of own health and lifestyle. We apply two-dimensional stereotype logit model to estimate association between self-assessed health and attitude towards health, after accounting for socioeconomic factors. We find evidence of strong positive association between health status and (perceived) taking care of own health and lifestyle. Analysis of perception of the two concepts – "taking care of own health" and "healthy lifestyle" – provides insights into possible reasons of not very good indicators of health behaviour among Latvian population.

Veiktā pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kā tiek organizēts māsas darbs ģimenes ārstu praksēs kolorektālā vēža agrīnai diagnostikai. Lai sasniegtu izvirzīto mērķi, teorētiskajā daļā tika apskatīta V. Hendersones teorētiskā pieeja saistībā ar māsu darbu ģimenes ārstu praksē, izvērtēta kolorektālā vēža diagnostika, klīniskās ainas nozīme, profilakse un ārstēšana. Darbā tika ņemtas vērā akadēmiskās publikācijās un pētījumos aprakstītā kolorektālā vēža skrīninga prakse Latvijā un ārvalstīs, kā arī ar to saistītie izaicinājumi. Background Previous evidence indicates that sauna bathing is related to a reduced risk of fatal cardiovascular disease (CVD) events in men. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sauna habits and CVD mortality in men and women, and whether adding information on sauna habits to conventional cardiovascular risk factors is associated with improvement in prediction of CVD mortality risk. A tanulmány a magyar nyelvi standarddal foglalkozik. A használt elméleti keret a nyelvi ideológiák kutatása, amelyet kiegészítettem a társalgáselemzés módszertanával. A nyelvi standard jellegzetesen ideológiai fogalom. A magyar nyelvészetben is nyelven kívüli jegyekkel definiálják a magyar nyelvi standard kifejezést. A magyar kultúra standard központú nyelvi kultúra, amelynek fő ismerve az, hogy a magyar nyelv alapjelentésben egyenlő standard változatával. Ez ellen a próbál tenni határtalanítás címen a szociólingvisták és a határon túli nyelvészek egy csoportja.
