Investigations on isomerization and rearrangement of polycyclic arenes under oxidative conditions – Anodic versus reagent-mediated reactions

Abstract Electro-organic conversions at an active molybdenum anode enable the formation of fused arenes. High chemoselectivity was achieved under anodic conditions, and a reagent-induced selectivity was observed by comparison with results of MoCl5-mediated reactions. Polycyclic arenes like phenanthrenes, triphenylenes, chrysenes, or helicenes were selectively obtained in yields up to 87% and in some cases unusual rearrangements were crucial for the product formation.

Functionalized cages encapsulating xenon atoms enable highly sensitive, background-free molecular imaging through a technique known as HyperCEST 129Xe MRI. Here, we introduce a class of potential biosensor cage structures based on two resorcinarene macrocycles bridged either by aliphatic carbon chains or piperazines. The authors studied associations of nature- and infrastructure-based features with physical activity (PA) in different urban neighborhood types; 848 community-dwelling people aged 75–90 years reported PA and three perceived nature-based destinations and seven infrastructure-based features as outdoor mobility facilitators. Neighborhood type was defined using a geographic information system based on proximity to central service areas and residential density (city center, subcenter, and dense and dispersed areas outside centers).
