The rapid introduction of the normative frame on the European scale, both communally and nationally, follows the historical investigation presented in the first chapter of this dissertation, with a double purpose: to define the issues of the current debate on the one hand and to describe the state of the art on the other. Directive 2001/42/EC of the European Parliament and Council of 27 June 2001 concerning the assessment of effects of certain plans and programmes on the setting was officialised in July of that year, generating a wide range of experiences. Electricity consumption prediction with functional linear regression using spline estimators

A functional linear regression model linking observations of a functional response variable with measurements of an explanatory functional variable is considered. This model serves to analyse a real data set describing electricity consumption in Sardinia. The interest lies in predicting either oncoming weekends’ or oncoming weekdays’ consumption, provided actual weekdays’ consumption is known. A B-spline estimator of the functional parameter is used. Selected computational issues are addressed as well.

Pro graduni käsittelee kaikkiaan sitä, mitä seksuaalisuus on ja kuinka seksuaalisuudella on ratkaiseva merkitys mielen rakentumissa. Selvitän käsitteellisen tutkimuksen avulla kuinka seksuaalisuutta tulisi teoreettisesti ymmärtää ja jäsentää. Analysoin ja vertailen kolmen psykoanalyyttisen teoreetikon, Sigmund Freudin, Jean Laplanchen ja Ruth Steinin teorioita seksuaalisuudesta. Integrated initial and continuing training as a way of developing the professional agency of teachers and student teachers

In this paper, we discuss training aimed at supporting the professional agency of teachers and student teachers. Drawing on socio-cultural and post-structural theories, we conceptualize professional agency as achieved by participation in professional practices. We employ our conceptualization in an analysis of a Finnish pilot training that combined initial and continuous training for preschool and primary school teachers. We argue that the practices of reflection and collective enquiry inherent in the model offer a fruitful starting point for further efforts to understand how to support the development of the professional agency of teachers and student teachers simultaneously. peerReviewed
The roles of teacher–student relationship quality and self-concept of ability in adolescents’ achievement emotions: temperament as a moderator

AbstractThis study examined to what extent teacher–student conflict and closeness, on the one hand, and students’ self-concepts of ability in literacy and mathematics, on the other, are related to students’ achievement emotions (enjoyment, anxiety and boredom) in mathematics and literacy among Finnish early adolescents (N = 854). We also investigated the extent to which these associations are moderated by student temperament (surgency/extraversion, negative affectivity and effortful control). Non-invasive localization of continuous atrial ectopic beats remains a cornerstone for the treatment of atrial arrhythmias. The lack of accurate tools to guide electrophysiologists leads to an increase in the recurrence rate of ablation procedures. Existing approaches are based on the analysis of the P-waves main characteristics and the forward body surface potential maps (BSPMs) or on the inverse estimation of the electric activity of the heart from those BSPMs. These methods have not provided an efficient and systematic tool to localize ectopic triggers. This study was aimed at investigating the enactment of teacher leadership in early childhood education (ECE) centres in Finland. Theoretically, the study was informed by the emerging scholarship of early childhood distributed pedagogical leadership and school based research on teacher leadership as well as classical theorizing of ECE leadership. Staff from three ECE centres participated as a purposive sample of informants in this study. The study involved participative observations of ECE staff comprising teachers and child care nurses as a research method. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ollut tuottaa tietoa alueellisen erityislastentarhanopettajan (alue-elto) työn muotoutumisesta tavallisen päivähoidon arkiympäristössä sekä päiväkotien kasvatushenkilöstön arvioista koskien alue-elton työtä ja yhteistyötä hänen kanssaan. Tutkimus on tehty toimintatutkimuksena. Tutkimuksessa kuvataan alue-elton ajankäyttöä ja työtehtäviä sisällöllisesti. Tutkimuksen aineistona on alue-eltojen työajanseuranta runsaan vuoden ajalta. Työajanseurannassa alue-eltot kuvailivat työtehtäviään 15 minuutin tarkkuudella yhden viikon ajan kuukaudessa lokakuusta 2000 joulukuuhun 2001.
