Cholesterol, the most important sterol in mammals, helps maintain plasma membrane fluidity and is a precursor of bile acids, oxysterols, and steroid hormones. Cholesterol in the body is obtained from the diet or can be de novo synthetized. Cholesterol homeostasis is mainly regulated by the liver, where cholesterol is packed in lipoproteins for transport through a tightly regulated process. Changes in circulating lipoprotein cholesterol levels lead to atherosclerosis development, which is initiated by an accumulation of modified lipoproteins in the subendothelial space; this induces significant changes in immune cell differentiation and function. mRCC Outcome in the Treatment of Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma - A German Single-center Real-world Experience.

Background/Aim: Since the advent of targeted therapeutics, paradigms in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) treatment have changed. We investigated if efficacy and safety data from randomized controlled trials can be transferred into real-world settings. Patients and Methods: All patients with mRCC treated from 2006-2015 at the Department of Urology (Marburg-Germany) were retrospectively analyzed. We aim to determine whether differences in survival exist between two populations of women with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and to identify prognostic factors of survival after metastasis diagnosis. Data on women with MBC diagnosed between 2000 and 2011 were provided by the Cote d'Or Breast cancer registry. Survival rates and median overall survival (OS) after metastasis diagnosis were determined using the Kaplan–Meier method and prognostic factors were determined in a Cox proportional hazard model.
