Hypofractionnated radiotherapy for elderly patients with prostate cancer

2018

Radiation therapy technique and schedules could be adapted to patient's age because of a natural history of prostate cancer perceived as different, taking into account the comorbidities of patients but also a particular tolerance of elderly subjects. Thus, in localized prostate cancer, evaluation of associated diseases is essential before considering a treatment that will be of interest only if the life expectancy is greater than 10 years. When a curative approach is decided, radiotherapy holds a place of choice. Due to the recent results of randomized studies evaluating moderate hypofractionnated radiotherapy, showing a carcinological equivalence compared to a standard fractionation, this …

Factors related to the relative survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in a population-based study in France: does socio-economic st…

2017

IF 7.702; International audience; The survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma has increased during the last decade as a result of addition of anti-CD20 to anthracycline-based chemotherapy. Although the trend is encouraging, there are persistent differences in survival within and between the USA and European countries suggesting that non-biological factors play a role. Our aim was to investigate the influence of such factors on relative survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. We conducted a retrospective, multicenter, registry-based study in France on 1165 incident cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma between 2002 and 2008. Relative survival analyses were p…

Walk tests : a standardizable tool to assess capacities in cardio-vascular disease

2011

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases remain the first cause of mortality and handicap in the world. With the improvements in the management of the acute phase, the number of patients with limited exercise capacity due to chronic cardiovascular disease is increasing. The aim of this thesis was to conduct a thorough study of the use of standardized walk tests to assess exercise capacity in coronary artery disease patients. We first explain the concepts of handicap and quality of life in chronic diseases, and the need for functional evaluations in order to assess their impact and evolution. We then present the current modalities of cardiac rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of p…

Efficacy and safety assessment of azithromycin 1.5% eye drops (azyter) in peri-operative antibio-prophylaxis for cataract surgery

2009

International audience; Introduction: Background: Endophthalmitis is still one of the most fearsome complications of cataract surgery. The most important pathogens causing post-operative phacoemulsification endophthalmitis are staphylococci. Methods: 85 patients were included in a phase II pilot study. Patients were divided in three groups, group 1 and 3 received either azithromycin 1.5% eye drops or placebo eye drops one day before surgery and for 2 days after surgery and group 2 received azithromycin 1.5% eye drops for 3 days after surgery. Treatments were administered twice a day: one drop in the morning and one in the evening. Bacterial samples were collected three times from the conjun…

Evaluation of the environmental fate and ecotoxicological impact of the pesticide chlorpyrifos in soil for improvement of its environmental risk asse…

2016

EABIOMEUBINRA; Pesticides protect crops from various pests but can also harm nontarget organisms. To minimize risks for the environment and human health, a huge amount of studies are carried out and evaluated during the authorization process of each pesticide. However, the prediction of the environmental fate and ecotoxicological impact of a pesticide remains difficult. Several 100 formerly used pesticides are now banned because unexpected risks emerged decades after their authorization. Risk assessment documents of the organophosphate insecticide chlorpyrifos (CHL) particularly lack information about its degradation and potential transformation products in soil, and its impact on non-targe…

Identification of sustainable cropping systems with high multi-sector performances

2014

International audience; Multicriteria assessment is needed to identify promising cropping systems with good performances on different components of sustainability. Some trade-offs between criteria may occur. A better knowledge about the relationship between criteria can help (i) to ide ntify cropping systems with high multi-sector performances (e.g. Castoldi et al., 2010; Firbank et al., 2013), and (ii) to guide policy makers’choices. In this paper, we present the early results from our multi-sector evaluation performed on data collected on cropping systems experiments.
