Helium isotope systematics of volcanic gases and thermal waters of Guadeloupe Island, Lesser Antilles

Abstract The island of Guadeloupe is located in the middle of the 850 km long Lesser Antilles island arc. Present-day volcanic and geothermal activity is concentrated in two systems both located in the southwestern part of the island (Basse Terre): the La Soufriere volcanic complex and the Bouillante hydrothermal system, some 20 km to the northwest of the volcano. We report here the largest isotopic data set for helium isotopes in hydrothermal gases and waters from both systems, acquired between 1980 and 2012. 3 He/ 4 He ratios in the fumarolic gases of La Soufriere volcano have been quite homogeneous and stable over the last thirty years. This study aims at evaluating the performance of the Maximum Entropy method in assessing landslide susceptibility, exploiting topographic and multispectral remote sensing predictors. We selected the catchment of the Giampilieri stream, which is located in the north-eastern sector of Sicily (southern Italy), as test site. Przedmiotem refleksji są wybrane aspekty dotyczące przeobrażeń obrzędowości Świąt Wielkanocnych w Polsce. W artykule skupiono uwagę przede wszystkim na tradycji święcenia pokarmów w Wielką Sobotę, omówiono dawne i współczesne praktyki zwyczajowe z nią związane. Podstawą opracowań jest dostępna literatura etnograficzna, pilotażowe badania terenowe prowadzone przez autorkę w różnych częściach Polski, w tym głównie w województwach śląskim, opolskim i łódzkim oraz materiały internetowe.

The paper presents new data on the distribution of the superfamily Curculionoidea in the Eastern Beskidy Mountains. The study was carried out between 2003 and 2015 in the south-western part of this region. A list of 134 species of Curculionoidea classified into 7 families (Anthribidae, Attelabidae, Rhynchitidae, Nanophyidae, Apionidae, Curculionidae, Erirhinidae) is presented. Some of them are rare in Poland or have been collected in this region for the first time: Chonostropheus tristis, Aspidapion validum, Barynotus moerens, Dodecastichus inflatus, Otiorhynchus obsidianus, Lixus punctiventris, Tachyerges rufitarsis and Lignyodes suturatus.

Since 1985, the EU has designated cities as European Capital of Culture (ECOC) for 1 year at a time. Various ECOCs have used the designation as a tool to revive the city space. The cultural initiatives, such as the ECOC designation, are the EU's political instruments, whose significance has increased during the recent decades, and through which the EU aims to influence various political objectives, such as the unity of the Union and economic growth.
