The interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) is intimately related to the prospect of superior domain-wall dynamics and the formation of magnetic skyrmions. Designing P-Chirogenic 1,2-Diphosphinobenzenes at Both P-Centers Using P(III)-Phosphinites

International audience; A new enantiodivergent synthesis of P-chirogenic 1,2-diphosphinobenzenes (DP*B) bearing the chirality on one or both phosphorus centers is reported using aryne chemistry. The principle is based on successive reactions of 1,2-dibromobenzene with sec-phosphide boranes, then DABCO to remove the borane, and finally with chlorophosphines or P(III)-chirogenic phosphinites. The efficiency of this synthesis was demonstrated by the stereoselective preparation of (S,S)-1,2-bis(o-anisylphenylphosphino)benzene. A comparison of DIPAMP and homochiral DP*B ligands in asymmetric Rh- or Pd-catalyzed reactions was reported.
Dark matter and baryogenesis in Higgs portal models

This work focuses on two of the main issues in current understanding of particle physics described by the Standard Model. The Standard Model, despite of its success, is not complete. Existence of dark matter has been clearly verified, but its nature is unknown. Also, the baryon asymmetry in the Universe hints that the Standard Model has to be extended. In this thesis we study Higgs portal models which both contain dark matter candidates, and can provide for a successful production of the baryon asymmetry.
Comparing proton momentum distributions in A = 2 and 3 nuclei via 2H 3H and 3He (e,e′p) measurements

We report the first measurement of the $(e,e'p)$ reaction cross-section ratios for Helium-3 ($^3$He), Tritium ($^3$H), and Deuterium ($d$). The measurement covered a missing momentum range of $40 \le p_{miss} \le 550$ MeV$/c$, at large momentum transfer ($\langle Q^2 \rangle \approx 1.9$ (GeV$/c$)$^2$) and $x_B>1$, which minimized contributions from non quasi-elastic (QE) reaction mechanisms. The data is compared with plane-wave impulse approximation (PWIA) calculations using realistic spectral functions and momentum distributions. The measured and PWIA-calculated cross-section ratios for $^3$He$/d$ and $^3$H$/d$ extend to just above the typical nucleon Fermi-momentum ($k_F \approx 250$ …

Mid-term and late results of endovascular treatment for symptomatic carotid artery stenosis under proximal protection

Introduction: Although filters are still preferred during carotid stenting, proximal protection systems (PPS) are increasingly used during these procedures. PPS seem to be safer than distal systems, especially in symptomatic patients, but evidence supporting their use is limited. Aim: This was a post hoc survey with 30-day mid-term and long-term follow up, which was aimed at assessment of the safety and efficacy of stenting of the internal carotid artery under PPS in symptomatic patients. Background and aims: The red ear syndrome (RES) is a rare syndrome characterized by burning pain and cutaneous erythema in the ear. It is probably due to an autonomic dysfunction, because of a hypofunction of sympathetic and/or a hyperactivity of parasympathetic control.
