Towards controlling PCDD/F production in a multi-fuel fired BFB boiler using two sulfur addition strategies

Abstract PCDD/F abatement strategies – sulfur pellet addition and peat co-combustion – were tested for a BFB boiler facility utilizing SRF-bark-sludge as fuel. In this paper chemical and physical analyses of electrostatic precipitator (ESP) fly ashes were used to explain the differences in the performance of these strategies. These analyses revealed a difference between the coarse and fine fly ashes collected in the ESP. Chemical analysis of the fine fly ashes revealed high concentration of easily volatilized elements while the SEM micrographs showed that fine ash are composed of clusters of spherical particles, thereby leading to a conclusion that fine ashes were originally in a gas phase …

Spin Crossover and Long-Lived Excited States in a Reduced Molecular Ruby.

Abstract The chromium(III) complex [CrIII(ddpd)2]3+ (molecular ruby; ddpd=N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐dipyridine‐2‐yl‐pyridine‐2,6‐diamine) is reduced to the genuine chromium(II) complex [CrII(ddpd)2]2+ with d4 electron configuration. This reduced molecular ruby represents one of the very few chromium(II) complexes showing spin crossover (SCO). The reversible SCO is gradual with T 1/2 around room temperature. The low‐spin and high‐spin chromium(II) isomers exhibit distinct spectroscopic and structural properties (UV/Vis/NIR, IR, EPR spectroscopies, single‐crystal XRD). Oral manifestations of Cowden?s disease : presentation of a clinical case

Cowden?s disease, or multiple hamartoma syndrome, is an autosomal dominant genodermatosis, characterized by the presence of multiple cutaneous hamartomas, oral fibromas and benign acral keratosis. It affects multiple organs (breast, thyroids, stomach, colon), with the strong possibility of malignant neoplasia developing in these organs. We present a case of this rare syndrome, highlighting the presentation of some clinical characteristics that, in suspected cases, can help to establish an early diagnosis of this disease, this being of great importance given the high frequency of tumors in people with this clinical picture.
Uso de las coronas telescópicas en el tratamiento de un paciente adulto con fisura labiopalatina: Puesta al día de la etiología y el tratamiento

La fisura labiopalatina es una de las malformaciones congénitas craneofaciales más importantes a tener en cuenta por el odontólogo general debido a su alta incidencia y a su elevada repercusión en la cavidad oral. Sus causas se deben a factores genéticos y predominantemente a factores ambientales, haciendo su aparición ya en el período embrionario. El sexo masculino se encuentra más afectado, en una relación de 7:3. La asociación más frecuente es el labio leporino unilateral total con fisura palatina, que es el caso que nos atañe.
