Patterns and universals of adult romantic attachment across 62 cultural regions: Are models of self and of other pancultural constructs?
2004
As part of the International Sexuality Description Project, a total of 17,804 participants from 62 cultural regions completed the Relationship Questionnaire (RQ), a self-report measure of adult romantic attachment. Correlational analyses within each culture suggested that the Model of Self and the Model of Other scales of the RQ were psychometrically valid within most cultures. Contrary to expectations, the Model of Self and Model of Other dimensions of the RQ did not underlie the four-category model of attachment in the same way across all cultures. Analyses of specific attachment styles revealed that secure romantic attachment was normative in 79% of cultures and that preoccupied romantic…
Coping With Relationship Stressors: A Decade Review
2011
This review identifies key issues in research on adolescent coping with stress with parents, friends, and romantic partners during the past decade. An analysis of 78 studies revealed findings on relationship stressors and the potential links between the use of different coping styles for different relationship types. Research has confirmed consistent gender differences in dealing with relationship stress and shown how individual factors (e.g., personality factors and attachment style) contribute to variations in stress perception and coping styles. Implications for prevention and intervention are identified and suggestions are made for future research, particularly with respect to complex a…
Cyber Security and the Internet of Things: Vulnerabilities, Threats, Intruders and Attacks
2015
Internet of Things (IoT) devices are rapidly becoming ubiquitous while IoT services are becoming pervasive. Their success has not gone unnoticed and the number of threats and attacks against IoT devices and services are on the increase as well. Cyber-attacks are not new to IoT, but as IoT will be deeply interwoven in our lives and societies, it is becoming necessary to step up and take cyber defense seriously. Hence, there is a real need to secure IoT, which has consequently resulted in a need to comprehensively understand the threats and attacks on IoT infrastructure. This paper is an attempt to classify threat types, besides analyze and characterize intruders and attacks facing IoT device…
Una strategia nazionale a difesa del Cyberspazio
2023
The article intends to propose an analysis about the state of the art of cyber security in Italy, paying particular attention to the main innovations contained in the National Cyberse…
The role of attachment patterns and family functioning on psychophysical well-being in children with Cystic Fibrosis Preliminary Results
2013
(1) Introduction Scientific literature evidences a link between the quality of personal relationships and health status: the attachment style has a role on health and growth outcomes (Feeney, 2000) especially in chronic illness representing a threatening situation (Ciechanowski, 2003). Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a chronic genetic condition compromising the exocrine glands functioning and requiring intensive daily therapies (White et al., 2009). In pediatric condition, infant-mother relationship constituted an important element for nutritional status in CF children (Simmons et al., 1995; Anthony et al. 1999) which is one of the major factors contributing to improve longevity and quality of life…
Long-term efficacy of danazol treatment in hereditary angioedema
2010
Background No systematic study has been published yet on the long-term efficacy of attenuated androgens in hereditary angioedema (HAE). Our aim was to conduct a follow-up study in two (German and Hungarian) cohorts of HAE patients (45 and 39 patients, respectively) undergoing uninterrupted treatment for 6 years with similar (starting dose 128 ± 78 mg per day and 136 ± 70 mg per day, respectively) and constant doses of danazol. Design The frequencies of subcutaneous, abdominal and laryngeal attacks were recorded each year. Results The annual frequency of all the three types of attacks was significantly lower during the first year of danazol treatment, compared to the last year before baselin…
FLOW PATTERN AROUND THE RIGID CEPHALIC SHIELD OF THE DEVONIAN AGNATHANERRIVASPIS WAYNENSIS(PTERASPIDIFORMES: HETEROSTRACI)
2008
Palaeozoic armoured agnathans (or ostraco- derms) are characterised by having an external, bone shield enclosing the anterior part of their bodies, which demon- strate great diversity of both forms and sizes. The functional significance of these cephalic shields remains unclear (they may have been a functional analogue of the vertebral col- umn, or merely afforded protection). Here we assess the importance of the cephalic shield in terms of locomotion. In order to do this, we have studied flow patterns of the Devo- nian heterostracan Errivaspis waynensis (White, 1935), using an anatomically correct model of E. waynensis positioned at different pitching angles. The fluid flow was visualised …
Structure d'attachement dans la dermatite atopique
2011
Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disorder which usually appears before the age of five, and heals naturally little by little after adolescence in over 90% of cases. Why this spontaneous improvement occurs is not clearly established for this multi-factor skin disorder, for which the etiopathology has yet to be determined (immune system maturity?).There is a clear relationship between this pathology and the psyche: major psychological repercussions affecting the quality of life, aggravation or triggering of skin reactions due to stress, alleviation of lesions using psychotherapy. Observation of patterns of attachment is important in the field of psychopathology, but is not often unde…
Diabolè: The Personal Attack in Ancient Greek Rhetoric
2014
The topic of this article is the concept of diabole (personal attack) in ancient Greek rhetoric. I intend to show the ambivalent attitude of Greek oratory and rhet-oric toward this phenomenon; ambivalent because although diabole is depicted as a public danger, it is regularly adopted. My hypothesis is that this ambivalence de-pends on the intrinsic ambiguity of the concept of diabole itself. I believe that this ambiguity is strictly connected to the intrinsic competitiveness of public debate and that this competitiveness is a dynamic factor that cannot be eliminated. Therefore, despite its dangers, diabole still remains a risk that cannot be avoided. For this rea-son, a survey of this notio…
Factors associated with early recurrence at the first evaluation of patients with transient ischemic attack.
2014
Abstract We aimed to identify factors easily collected at admission in patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) that were associated with early recurrence, so as to guide clinicians’ decision-making about hospitalization in routine practice. From September 2011 to January 2013, all TIA patients who were referred to the University Hospital of Dijon, France, were identified. Vascular risk factors and clinical information were collected. The etiology of the TIA was defined according to the results of complementary examinations performed at admission as follows: large artery atherosclerosis (LAA-TIA) TIA, TIA due to atrial fibrillation (AF-TIA), other causes, and undetermined TIA. Logistic…
