Hirayama disease – Early MRI diagnosis of subacute medullary ischemia: A case report
2020
Background: Hirayama disease (HD) is a rare, benign, and self-limiting motor neuron disorder that results in selective motor impairment of the C7-T1 myotomes. It is characterized by progressive, unilateral, or bilateral asymmetric muscle atrophy of the distal upper extremities and myelopathy. Case Description: A 23-year-old male presented with bilateral atrophy of the thenar/hypothenar eminences/ interosseous muscles, plus left-hand weakness. The cervical MRI documented subacute ischemic damage of the distal cervical cord. To rule out a tumor and reduce questionable cord compression, the patient underwent a C5–C6 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) immediately followed by a lami…
Takayasu's disease effects on the kidneys: current perspectives.
2018
Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a chronic vasculitis disease of unknown etiology. Clinically significant renal disease is relatively common, and renovascular hypertension is the major renal problem. The assessment of TA activity is usually challenging because vascular inflammation may progress to fixed vascular injury without findings of active disease. Until now, the best therapeutic options have not been identified. This review highlights the current perspectives of renal involvement in TA.
Muscle Oxygen Delivery in the Forearm and in the Vastus Lateralis Muscles in Response to Resistance Exercise: A Comparison Between Nepalese Porters a…
2020
Altitude ascending represents an intriguing experimental model reproducing physiological and pathophysiological conditions sharing hypoxemia as the denominator. The aim of the present study was to investigate fractional oxygen extraction and blood dynamics in response to hypobaric hypoxia and to acute resistance exercises, taking into account several factors including different ethnic origin and muscle groups. As part of the “Kanchenjunga Exploration & Physiology” project, six Italian trekkers and six Nepalese porters took part in a high altitude trek in the Himalayas. The measurements were carried out at low (1,450 m) and high altitude (HA; 4,780 m). Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)-d…
Tocilizumab therapy for unresponsive pulmonary arterial hypertension in a patient with Takayasu arteritis
2016
A 46-year-old female Caucasian patient was referred to our unit with upper extremity claudication, dyspnoea [New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class III], and weight loss. On physical examination, ...
Is prolonged febrile syndrome associated with reactive thrombocytosis a possible association in the diagnosis of Takayasu’s arteritis? A case report
2021
Takayasu’s arteritis is a rare, systemic, inflammatory vasculitis of large blood vessels with an unknown aetiology that more frequently affects women of childbearing age with progression to stenosis, fibrosis or thrombogenesis. Clinical manifestations are associated either with inflammation of the vascular wall (including fever, myalgia, arthralgia, weight loss) or the development of aneurysms and extensive vascular lesions, which creates challenges for a differential diagnosis. This current report presents the case of a female Caucasian patient, aged 23 years, that presented herself repetitively at the hospital reporting symptoms including fever, productive cough, myalgia associated with …
Quadrature domains for the Helmholtz equation with applications to non-scattering phenomena
2022
In this paper, we introduce quadrature domains for the Helmholtz equation. We show existence results for such domains and implement the so-called partial balayage procedure. We also give an application to inverse scattering problems, and show that there are non-scattering domains for the Helmholtz equation at any positive frequency that have inward cusps.

Abstract: This study aims to: 1) Know the comparison between the influence of web-based learning models with direct learning models on student achievement., 2) Know the comparison between the effects of visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles on student achievement, 3) Knowing the interaction between learning methods and learning styles on student achievement. This research is a quasi experimental design. The instrument prerequisite tests conducted were validity, reliability, level of degree of difficulty, distinguishing ability. The data analysis method used is descriptive analysis, normality and homogeneity, and Two Way Anova. The first results is, sig. 0,000 or sig. (p) a with a…
