Geometrical and conformational preferences of the 9‐fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl‐amino moiety
2004
Structural parameters, originating from x-ray crystallographic data, have been compiled for 13 derivatives of amino acids, peptides and related compounds, which contain a total of 14 Fmoc-NH- moieties. For these moieties, molecular geometries and conformations--described by the omegao, theta1, theta2 and theta3' torsion angles--were analysed and compared with the corresponding parameters for the Z-NH- and Boc-NH-moieties (290 and 553, respectively). To gain a deeper insight into the conformational features of the Fmoc-NH- moiety, ab initio free molecule calculations were performed for fully relaxed minima. Also the potential energy surface as a function of the torsion angles (theta3', theta…
A new copper(II) chelate complex with polyamines as fire retardant and epoxy hardener: Synthesis, crystal and electronic structure, and thermal behav…
2020
A new (ethylenediamine-N,N′)-(diethylenetriamine-N,N′,N″)-copper(II) hexafluoridosilicate complex, [Cu(eda)(deta)]SiF6 (1) (eda – ethylenediamine; deta – diethylenetriamine), was synthesized by direct interaction of anhydrous CuSiF6 with polyethylenepolyamine (pepa – H2N[C2H4NH]nH, where n = 1 (eda) and 2 (deta)). The crystals of 1 were characterized by IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 consists of SiF62− discrete anions and [Cu(eda)(deta)]2+ complex cations whose Cu2+ ions are chelated by eda and deta. The coordination polyhedron of Cu(II) atom is an elongated square pyramid which consists of four nitrogen atoms belonging to NH2 groups of eda and NH2 and NH groups of …
Hartree - Fock simulation of the Ag/MgO interface structure
1996
The atomic and electronic structure of the Ag/MgO interface are calculated using an ab initio Hartree - Fock computer code and a supercell model of a silver monolayer atop three layers of MgO substrate. The band structure, electronic density distribution and densities of states are analysed in detail for isolated and interacting slabs of a metal and MgO. The energetically most favoured adsorption position for Ag atoms is found to be above the O atoms, with the binding energy of 0.20 eV and the equilibrium Ag - O distance of 2.64 A. Neither appreciable charge transfer in the interfacial region, nor considerable population of bonds between the silver monolayer and the insulating substrate tak…

Electronic and magnetic structure ofLa0.875Sr0.125MnO3calculated by means of hybrid density-functional theory
2007
We present the results of ab initio calculations on magnetic and electronic structures of La1xSrxMnO3 at low doping, x =1/8. Using the B3LYP hybrid exchange-correlation functional within the framework of densityfunctional theory, we predict a ferromagnetic ground state for La0.875Sr0.125MnO3 in both the low-temperature orthorhombic and the high-temperature pseudocubic phases. This is in contrast to its parent compound LaMnO3, for which we find in agreement with experiment the layered antiferromagnetic state to be the most stable one. The calculated density of states and bond population analysis suggest a tendency of formation of half-metallic spin states in the band gap of both structures.
Ab initio calculations of Nb doped SrTiO3
2010
We present and discuss the results of the large scale Hartree–Fock calculations of Nb impurities substituting for Ti ions in SrTiO3 using ab initio computer code CRYSTAL and several supercells containing up to 135 atoms. The local structure optimisation, the electronic charge redistribution, chemical bond covalence and the band-structure changes induced by the defect are analysed. According to the results of our calculations, Nb is a shallow donor; six nearest O ions are slightly displaced outwards from the Nb ion. The calculated bond population between nearest Ti and O ions (64 me) is much larger than that between Nb and O ions (8 me), since Nb impurity is more ionic than the host Ti.
Adenine and 2-aminopurine: Paradigms of modern theoretical photochemistry
2006
Distinct photophysical behavior of nucleobase adenine and its constitutional isomer, 2-aminopurine, has been studied by using quantum chemical methods, in particular an accurate ab initio multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory. After light irradiation, the efficient, ultrafast energy dissipation observed for nonfluorescent 9H-adenine is explained here by the nonradiative internal conversion process taking place along a barrierless reaction path from the initially populated 1 (ππ* L a ) excited state toward a low-lying conical intersection (CI) connected with the ground state. In contrast, the strong fluorescence recorded for 2-aminopurine at 4.0 eV with large decay lifetime …
Hartree-Fock calculations and photoelectron spectra of SSO and NSF
1974
Results from ab initio Hartree-Fock calculations on the ground states of SSO and NSF are reported. The calculations employ large basis sets of Gaussian functions of essentially double zeta quality. The photoelectron spectra of the bent triatomic molecules with 18 valence electrons, i.e. SSO, NSF, O3, SO2, NSCl are compared. Further experimental details of the photoelectron spectrum of SSO are presented and an assignment of the observed ionic states of SSO⊕ is attempted. The calculated dissociation energies, dipole moments and the population analyses are given. The correlation effect is qualitatively discussed in connection with the applicability of Koopmans' theorem for the bent tri-atomic …
ChemInform Abstract: Theoretical and Spectroscopic Studies on Imino-Carbon Palladated Pyridine-2-carbaldimines.
1987
Abstract Ab initio LCAO-MO-SCF calculations on the model compounds C 5 H 4 N-2-C(R 1 )=NH [R 1 = H ( 2c ) and R 1 = trans -PdCl(PH 3 ) 2 ( 4c )] indicate that the E - trans conformation is favored over the E - cis one by 16.9 kJ mol −1 for 2c and by 25.0 kJ mol −1 for 4c . One of the factors which stabilizes the E-trans arrangement for 4c is a weak bonding interaction between the palladium center and the pyridine nitrogen. On going from 2c to 4c a slight charge enrichment on the pyridine carbons and a more pronounced one on the nitrogen atoms is computed, whereas the charge density of the imino carbon atom is decreased. In 4c no π contribution to the PdC bond is observed. Protonation of th…
Structural insights into M2O-Al2O3-WO3 (M = Na, K) system by electron diffraction tomography.
2015
TheM2O–Al2O3–WO3(M= alkaline metals) system has attracted the attention of the scientific community because some of its members showed potential applications as single crystalline media for tunable solid-state lasers. These materials behave as promising laser host materials due to their high and continuous transparency in the wide range of the near-IR region. A systematic investigation of these phases is nonetheless hampered because it is impossible to produce large crystals and only in a few cases a pure synthetic product can be achieved. Despite substantial advances in X-ray powder diffraction methods, structure investigation on nanoscale is still challenging, especially when the sample i…
