The present contribution focuses on the strategies carried out to hinder depopulation and facilitate the recovery of the historical city centres in Sicily in the last fifty years. In particular, the essay analyses if the strategies and initiatives fostered in this field had been respectful of the physical characteristics of these small towns. In some regions of the world such as the Northern Hemisphere, the abandonment of agricultural land is one of the most widespread forms of land use change. In general, abandonment is followed by colonization by herbaceous and woody plants. Since the 1950s, wide areas of Southern Italy have been afforested for soil conservation improvement. In order to quantify the effects of agricultural abandonment and artificial afforestation on soil organic carbon (SOC), a dataset of 48 Sicilian sites has been analyzed. El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido abordar los procesos de significación y dotación de sentido de las personas mayores que sobreviven en soledad no deseada. Para ello, hemos realizado una etnografía en la ciudad de València. Durante la investigación, hemos observado que los sujetos participantes detentan un estatus social que está intensamente marcado por su separación de las dinámicas sociales que regían sus vidas y por una devaluación extrema de su vida en términos de reconocimiento. Aquest informe final del projecte “Trajectòries, abandons i canvis de titulació en la Universitat de València” s’ha elaborat a partir del treball desenvolupat durant dos anys (2014-2016) i ha comptat amb el suport del Vicerectorat d’Estudis de Grau. El treball s’ha diferenciat en dues fases: una primera de tipus quantitatiu i una segona de caire qualitatiu.
