Tässä pro gradu-tutkielmassa tarkasteltiin tyypin 1 diabetesta sairastavien nuorten psykologista joustavuutta, mielialaa ja elämänlaatua kohderyhmässä, jossa hoitotasapaino on heikko. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli kartoittaa nuorten masennus- ja ahdistuneisuusoireiden sekä elämänlaadun tasoa. Lisäksi tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tarkastella hoitotasapainon yhteyttä elämänlaatuun sekä masennus- ja ahdistuneisuusoireisiin. Suomessa tyypin 1 diabeteksen esiintyvyys on maailman korkeinta ja monen diabeetikon verensokerit ovat vaarallisen korkeita. Metastasis to the cavernous sinus from head and neck cancer is uncommon and has been previously reported by a few authors. It is usually a late manifestation of the primary tumor and may be the first evidence of a widespread dissemination of the disease. Main clinical findings are those related with involvement of cranial nerves III to VI as they pass through the cavernous sinus. Although diagnosis may be difficult, the appearance of clinical and radiological findings of cavernous sinus involvement in a context of head and neck cancer must alert us about an intracranial metastatic infiltration. The essential amino acid L-tryptophan (Trp) is the precursor of the monoaminergic neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT). Numerous studies have shown that elevated dietary Trp has a suppressive effect on aggressive behavior and post-stress plasma cortisol concentrations in vertebrates, including teleosts. These effects are believed to be mediated by the brain serotonergic system, even though all mechanisms involved are not well understood.
