Novel Threshold Calculations for Remaining Useful Lifetime Estimation of Rolling Element Bearings

The prognostics objective is to avoid sudden machinery breakdowns and to estimate the remaining useful life after initial degradation. Typically, physical health indicators are derived from available sensor data, and a mathematical model is tuned to fit them. The time it takes for the model to reach a failure threshold is the estimated remaining useful life. The failure threshold may be determined from historical failure data, but that is not always readily available. ISO standard 10816–3 defines permissible velocity vibration levels for machines that may be used as a failure threshold. Teleoperation of industrial robot manipulators based on augmented reality

[EN] This research develops a novel teleoperation for robot manipulators based on augmented reality. The proposed interface is equipped with full capabilities in order to replace the classical teach pendant of the robot for carrying out teleoperation tasks. The proposed interface is based on an augmented reality headset for projecting computer-generated graphics onto the real environment and a gamepad to interact with the computer-generated graphics and provide robot commands. Modeling of an active torsion bar automotive suspension for ride comfort and energy analysis in standard road profiles

Abstract Chassis technology is evolving towards active suspension, in which actuators can provide forces to each wheel individually. This overcomes the traditional trade-off between comfort and handling, at the expense of increased complexity and electric consumption. A class of third order iterative Kurchatov–Steffensen (derivative free) methods for solving nonlinear equations

Abstract In this paper we show a strategy to devise third order iterative methods based on classic second order ones such as Steffensen’s and Kurchatov’s. These methods do not require the evaluation of derivatives, as opposed to Newton or other well known third order methods such as Halley or Chebyshev. Some theoretical results on convergence will be stated, and illustrated through examples. These methods are useful when the functions are not regular or the evaluation of their derivatives is costly. Furthermore, special features as stability, laterality (asymmetry) and other properties can be addressed by choosing adequate nodes in the design of the methods.

Scalable implementation of measuring distances in a Riemannian manifold based on the Fisher Information metric

This paper focuses on the scalability of the Fisher Information manifold by applying techniques of distributed computing. The main objective is to investigate methodologies to improve two bottlenecks associated with the measurement of distances in a Riemannian manifold formed by the Fisher Information metric. The first bottleneck is the quadratic increase in the number of pairwise distances. Re-forming end-of-life components through single point incremental forming

Abstract Applying Circular Economy strategies is mandatory to face material demand while minimizing the environmental impact. Manufacturing processes are to be thought as means to enable material/component reuse strategies. This paper presents the suitability of Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) to re-form End-of-life sheet metal components. Omnidirectional vision for UAV: applications to attitude, motion and altitude estimation for day and night conditions

International audience; This paper presents the combined applications of omnidirectional vision featuring on its application to aerial robotics. Omnidirectional vision is first used to compute the attitude, altitude and motion not only in rural environment but also in the urban space. Secondly, a combination of omnidirectional and perspective cameras permits to estimate the altitude.
