The first reported twisted bis-lactam, a racemic Tröger's base (TB) analogue (2), was resolved into its enantiomers on a chiral stationary phase HPLC column. The absolute configuration of (+)-2 was determined to be (R,R)-2 by comparing experimental and calculated vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. This study presents the results of an integrated stratigraphic analysis conducted on a marine gravity core (MSK-12 C4) recovered from the outer continental shelf (82 mwater depth) of western Calabria, ~2.6 km, NE of Capo Vaticano (Eastern Tyrrhenian margin). The gravity core MSK-12 C4 recovered a stratigraphic succession of 4.18 m beneath the seafloor representing the last ~11.1 ka. Factorization of strongly (p,sigma)-continuous multilinear operators

We introduce the new ideal of strongly-continuous linear operators in order to study the adjoints of the -absolutely continuous linear operators. Starting from this ideal we build a new multi-ideal by using the composition method. We prove the corresponding Pietsch domination theorem and we present a representation of this multi-ideal by a tensor norm. A factorization theorem characterizing the corresponding multi-ideal - which is also new for the linear case - is given. When applied to the case of the Cohen strongly -summing operators, this result gives also a new factorization theorem.
Operator martingale decomposition and the Radon-Nikodym property in Banach spaces

Abstract We consider submartingales and uniform amarts of maps acting between a Banach lattice and a Banach lattice or a Banach space. In this measure-free setting of martingale theory, it is known that a Banach space Y has the Radon–Nikodým property if and only if every uniformly norm bounded martingale defined on the Chaney–Schaefer l-tensor product E ⊗ ˜ l Y , where E is a suitable Banach lattice, is norm convergent. We present applications of this result. Firstly, an analogues characterization for Banach lattices Y with the Radon–Nikodým property is given in terms of a suitable set of submartingales (supermartingales) on E ⊗ ˜ l Y . Uzņēmumi savās mājas lapās var izmantot ar dabas aizsardzību (DA) saistītus terminus, lai sabiedrība tos uztvertu noteiktā veidā. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt DA terminu lietojumu desmit izvēlētu uzņēmumu mājas lapu tekstos, kas ņemti no piecām dažādām nozarēm. Galvenās pētījuma metodes ir literatūras apskats, absolūtā biežuma analīze un diskursa analīze. Dati parāda, ka automašīnu ražotāji savās mājaslapās izmanto visvairāk DA terminu, savukārt apģērbu firmas izmanto vismazāk DA terminu. Lielākā daļa atrasto DA terminu ir lietvārdi. Tiek secināts, ka uzņēmumus, kas savās mājaslapās lielākoties izmanto DA terminus no „vides risinājumu” kategorijas, var uztvert kā dabai draudzīgākus…
Natural and anthropogenic influences on the geochemistry of Quaternary lake sediments from Holzmaar, Germany

The accumulation of heavy metals and trace elements has been investigated in a well laminated sequence of Holocene and late Pleistocene lake sediments composed of diatomaceous gyttja, tuff and silt and clay sediments. Varve chronology of the annually deposited gyttja yielded a continuous high-resolution time sequence and allowed the absolute age dating of the sediment. Fluxes of elements remained largely uniform from the late Pleistocene into the Holocene. Higher trace element and heavy metal fluxes occur from 2322 to 862 VT years ago (VT: varve time, years before 1950) and reached their maxima in the uppermost sediments (<845 VT years ago).
