Integrability and Non Integrability of Some n Body Problems

2016

International audience; We prove the non integrability of the colinear 3 and 4 body problem, for any positive masses. To deal with resistant cases, we present strong integrability criterions for 3 dimensional homogeneous potentials of degree −1, and prove that such cases cannot appear in the 4 body problem. Following the same strategy, we present a simple proof of non integrability for the planar n body problem. Eventually, we present some integrable cases of the n body problem restricted to some invariant vector spaces.

The tennis racket effect in a three-dimensional rigid body

2017

We propose a complete theoretical description of the tennis racket effect, which occurs in the free rotation of a three-dimensional rigid body. This effect is characterized by a flip ($\pi$- rotation) of the head of the racket when a full ($2\pi$) rotation around the unstable inertia axis is considered. We describe the asymptotics of the phenomenon and conclude about the robustness of this effect with respect to the values of the moments of inertia and the initial conditions of the dynamics. This shows the generality of this geometric property which can be found in a variety of rigid bodies. A simple analytical formula is derived to estimate the twisting effect in the general case. Differen…

Asymptotics of accessibility sets along an abnormal trajectory

2001

We describe precisely, under generic conditions, the contact of the accessibility set at time $T$ with an abnormal direction, first for a single-input affine control system with constraint on the control, and then as an application for a sub-Riemannian system of rank 2. As a consequence we obtain in sub-Riemannian geometry a new splitting-up of the sphere near an abnormal minimizer $\gamma$ into two sectors, bordered by the first Pontryagin's cone along $\gamma$, called the $\xLinfty$-sector and the $\xLtwo$-sector. Moreover we find again necessary and sufficient conditions of optimality of an abnormal trajectory for such systems, for any optimization problem.

Minimum Time Control of the Restricted Three-Body Problem

2012

The minimum time control of the circular restricted three-body problem is considered. Controllability is proved on an adequate submanifold. Singularities of the extremal flow are studied by means of a stratification of the switching surface. Properties of homotopy maps in optimal control are framed in a simple case. The analysis is used to perform continuations on the two parameters of the problem: The ratio of the masses, and the magnitude of the control.

Computerized delimitation of odorant areas in gas-chromatography-olfactometry by kernel density estimation: Data processing on French white wines

2017

International audience; GC-O using the detection frequency method gives a list of odor events (OEs) where each OE is described by a linear retention index (LRI) and by the aromatic descriptor given by a human assessor. The aim of the experimenter is to gather OEs in a total olfactogram on which he tries to delimit odorant areas (OAs), then to compute each detection frequency. This paper proposes a computerized mathematical method based on kernel density estimation that makes up the total olfactogram as continuous and differentiable function from the OEs LRI only. The corresponding curve looks like a chromatogram, the peaks of which are potential OAs. The limits of an OA are the LRI of the t…

3D digitizing path planning for part inspection with laser scanning

2007

If the first work relating to the automation of the digitalization of machine elements goes back to approximately 25 years, the process of digitalization of parts with non-contact sensor remains nevertheless complex. It is not completely solved today, in particular from a metrological point of view. In this article, we consider the determination of the trajectory planning within the framework of the control of dimensional and geometrical specifications. The sensor used in this application is a laser planner scanner with CCD camera oriented and moved by a CMM. For this purpose, we have focused on the methodology used to determine the best possible viewpoints which will satisfy the digitizing…

Query-preserving watermarking of relational databases and XML documents

2011

Watermarking allows robust and unobtrusive insertion of information in a digital document. During the last few years, techniques have been proposed for watermarking relational databases or Xml documents, where information insertion must preserve a specific measure on data (for example the mean and variance of numerical attributes). In this article we investigate the problem of watermarking databases or Xml while preserving a set of parametric queries in a specified language, up to an acceptable distortion. We first show that unrestricted databases can not be watermarked while preserving trivial parametric queries. We then exhibit query languages and classes of structures that allow guarante…

XA2C Framework for XML Alteration/Adaptation

2010

XML has crossed the borders of software engineering and has spread to other areas such as e-commerce, identification, information storage, instant messaging and others. It is used to communicate crucial data over these domains. Thus, allowing non-expert programmers to manipulate and control their XML data is essential. In the literature, this issue has been dealt with from 3 perspectives: (i) XML alteration/adaptation techniques requiring a certain level of expertise to be implemented and are not unified yet, (ii) mashups, which are not formally defined yet and are not specific to XML data, and (iii) XML-oriented visual languages based on structural transformations and data extraction mainl…

Equivalence classes of Dyck paths modulo some statistics

2015

International audience; We investigate new equivalence relations on the set $\mathcal{D}_n$ of Dyck paths relatively to the three statistics of double rises, peaks and valleys. Two Dyck paths ar $r$-equivalent (resp. $p$-equivalent and $v$-equivalent) whenever the positions of their double rises (res. peaks and valleys) are the same. Then, we provide generating functions for the numbers of $r$-, $p$- and $v$-equivalence classes of $\mathcal{D}_n$.

Scaling behavior of Tan's contact for trapped Lieb-Liniger bosons: From two to many

2018

We show that the contact parameter of N harmonically trapped interacting one-dimensional bosons at zero temperature can be analytically and accurately obtained by a simple rescaling of the exact two-boson solution, and that N-body effects can be almost factorized. The small deviations observed between our analytical results and density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) calculations are more pronounced when the interaction energy is maximal (i.e., at intermediate interaction strengths) but they remain bounded by the large-N local-density approximation obtained from the Lieb-Liniger equation of state stemming from the Bethe ansatz. The rescaled two-body solution is so close to the exact one…
