Contact Interactions with Polarized Beams at HERA

1998

The discovery potential of the HERA collider, with and without polarized beams, for electron-quark contact interactions in neutral current scattering is reviewed. The measurement of spin asymmetries in the polarized case could give crucial information on the chiral structure of new interactions.

A direct determination of the proton-electron mass ratio

1978

The cyclotron resonance of protons and electrons in a magnetic field of 5.7 Tesla produced by a superconducting solenoid has been measured. Protons and electrons were alternately confined in an electrostatic quadrupole trap. The quotient of the cyclotron frequencies provides a first direct determination of the proton-electron mass ratio. The result ofM p /M e =1836.1502(53) agrees with other more precise but indirect determinations of this quantity.

Effect of Ion Energy on Charge Loss From Floating Gate Memories

2008

Heavy ions typical of the space environment have energies which exceed by orders of magnitude those available at particle accelerators. In this paper we are irradiating state of the art floating gate memories by using both a medium energy (SIRAD) and a high energy (RADEF) facilities. The corruption of stored information decreases when increasing ion energy. The proposed model deals with the broader track found for higher energy ions. Implications for testing procedures and for reliability considerations are discussed.

Search for a narrowtt¯resonance inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2012

We report a search for a narrow ttbar resonance that decays into a lepton+jets final state based on an integrated luminosity of 5.3/fb of proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV collected by the D0 Collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits on the production cross section of such a resonance multiplied by its branching fraction to ttbar which we compare to predictions for a leptophobic topcolor Z' boson. We exclude such a resonance at the 95% confidence level for masses below 835 GeV.

Search forWHassociated production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2012

This report describes a search for associated production of W and Higgs bosons based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of L approximate to 5.3 fb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar Collider. Events containing a W -> l nu candidate (with l corresponding to e or mu) are selected in association with two or three reconstructed jets. One or two of the jets are required to be consistent with having evolved from a b quark. A multivariate discriminant technique is used to improve the separation of signal and backgrounds. Expected and observed upper limits are obtained for the product of the WH production cross section and branching ratios and …

Exclusive initial-state-radiation production of theDD¯,D*D¯, andD*D¯*systems

2009

We perform a study of the exclusive production of in initial-state-radiation events, from e(+)e(-) annihilations at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, to search for charmonium and possible new resonances. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 384 fb(-1) and was recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II storage rings. The D (D) over bar, D*(D) over bar, D*(D) over bar* mass spectra show clear evidence of several psi resonances. However, there is no evidence for Y(4260) -> D*(D) over bar or Y(4260) -> D*(D) over bar*.

Discovering and Studying Bileptons with e-e- Collisions

1997

We analyze the prospects for discovering and unraveling the nature of doubly-charged bileptons at a linear collider of the next generation running in its electron-electron colliding mode. We stress the importance of initial state radiation, beam spread and polarization, and compute the discovery bounds. The gauge nature of vector bileptons can be determined by studying hard photon emission.

More on higher order decays of the lighter top squark

1999

We discuss the three-body decays stop_1 -> W^+ b neutralino_1, stop_1 -> H^+ b neutralino_1, stop_1 -> b slepton_i neutrino_l, and stop_1 -> b sneutrino_l l^+$ ($l =e,,$) of the lighter top squark within the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We give the complete analytical formulas for the decay widths and present a numerical study in view of an upgraded Tevatron, the CERN LHC, and a future lepton collider demonstrating the importance of these decay modes.

Recent electroweak results from ATLAS

2016

Recent measurements and searches in the electroweak sector of the Standard Model by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are reported. The results are based on $20.3\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8\,\rm TeV$ for $WW$, $WZ$, $ZZ$, $Z\gamma$ and $Z\gamma\gamma$ production as well as on $3.2\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13\,\rm TeV$ for $WZ$ and $ZZ$ production.
