Mobile Search - Social Network Search Using Mobile Devices Demonstration

Mobile search prototype demonstrates the possibilities of social network search in N800 mobile devices. Search is initiated from a N800 mobile device to search the contacts in mobile device's addressbook. The contacts can be other N800 mobile devices running mobile Web server or normal Web servers in the Internet with Drupal content management system. Mobile device users can select which of their personal information such as phone numbers, calendar data etc. to share via a mobile Web server. This article presents mobile encounter networks (MENs), which emerge when mobile devices come across each other and form a temporary connection between them using a common short-range radio technology. Dynamic packet scheduling performance in UTRA Long Term Evolution downlink

In this paper we evaluate the performance of dynamic Packet Scheduling (PS) of 3GPP UTRAN Long Term Evolution (LTE) Downlink. Packet scheduling is of utmost importance in 3G LTE, because all traffic types with different Quality of Service requirements are competing of the resources. We present a decoupled time and frequency domain packet scheduling framework for LTE downlink. Optical CDMA enhanced by nonlinear optics

Intended for the next generation of optical access networks, OCDMA is of great interest to meet the demand of increasing the number of users per access fiber, especially as spectral phase coding increases its performance in the optical domain. This, however, requires handling broad spectra and short pulses, which are best dealt with using opto-electronic or all-optical devices instead of slower electronics. Among others, we demonstrate spectral-phase-coded OCDMA using a fiber-based saturable absorber as thresholding in the receiver.

Spectral Slicing of a Supercontinuum Source for WDM/DS-OCDMA Application

WDM and optical CDMA are leading contenders to easily upgrade access network performances in terms of multiple access technique. Both methods can be used at once, using a single multiwavelength optical source. We show, numerically and experimentally, that spectral slicing of a 10-GHz pulse train broadened to a supercontinuum yields pulses suitable for use in a direct sequence optical CDMA system. Simulations with optical CDMA encoders and decoders based on superstructured fiber Bragg gratings indicate good performance can be expected.

This paper introduces a model that can be used to share link capacity among customers under different kind of traffic conditions. This model is suitable for different kind of networks like the 4G networks (fast wireless access to wired network) to support connections of given duration that requires a certain quality of service. We study different types of network traffic mixed in a same communication link.
