One Does Not Fit All: European Study Shows Significant Differences in Value-Priorities in Clean Sport

Doping violates the Spirit of Sport and is thought to contradict the values which underpin this spirit. Values-based education (VBE) has been cited as a key element for creating a clean sport culture across age groups. Culturally relevant VBE requires understanding of the values that motivate athletes from different countries to practice their sport and uphold clean sport values. WADA's new International Standards for Education makes this study both needed and timely. Overall, 1,225 athletes from Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, and the UK responded to measures assessing their general values, Spirit of Sport values, and their perceived importance of "clean sport". Electron-accepting properties of the nitro group were studied in a series of meta- and para-X-substituted nitrobenzene derivatives (X = NMe2, NH2, OH, OMe, CH3, H, F, Cl, CF3, CN, CHO, COMe, CONH2, COOH, COCl, NO2, NO). Ray optics behavior of flux avalanche propagation in superconducting films

Experimental evidence of wave properties of dendritic flux avalanches in superconducting films is reported. Using magneto-optical imaging the propagation of dendrites across boundaries between a bare NbN film and areas coated by a Cu layer was visualized, and it was found that the propagation is refracted in full quantitative agreement with Snell's law. For the studied film of 170 nm thickness and a $0.9\phantom{\rule{0.28em}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{m}$ thick metal layer, the refractive index was close to $n=1.4$. Catalytic applications of TiO2

Abstract The use of TiO2 as heterogeneous catalyst and/or active support for metals or other oxides is here reported. Many reactions of industrial relevance involve, in fact, titania-based catalysts, among them, NOx abatement, Fischer–Tropsch and water–gas shift, Deacon and Claus processes, hydrodesulfurizations and hydrogenations, selective reductions and selective oxidations. This chapter aims to discuss the main applications of TiO2, in its different forms, as effective support or catalyst for thermocatalytic and photo-thermocatalytic reactions, focusing on the role of its structural and physicochemical properties on the catalytic performance (activity, selectivity, stability).

Agent assisted interactive algorithm for computationally demanding multiobjective optimization problems

We generalize the applicability of interactive methods for solving computationally demanding, that is, time-consuming, multiobjective optimization problems. For this purpose we propose a new agent assisted interactive algorithm. It employs a computationally inexpensive surrogate problem and four different agents that intelligently update the surrogate based on the preferences specified by a decision maker. In this way, we decrease the waiting times imposed on the decision maker during the interactive solution process and at the same time decrease the amount of preference information expected from the decision maker. This study provides an initial analysis of the key determinants of tourism in Sicily. In doing so, it responds to the general lack of a scientific approach in the study and management of tourism in Sicily. By mixing a gravity approach and system dynamics methodology, the attractiveness of Sicily is examined, taking into account both structural and promotional aspects that might affect tourism demand. The results strongly suggest that the island's natural and cultural resources, the road infrastructure and the urban environment are important determinants of tourism demand in Sicily. Although searching could be helpful for solving arguments, building common ground, and reinforcing mutual assumptions, it can also cause inter-actional problems.
