The present study evaluates the immune response mediated by vaccination with cell complexes composed of irradiated B16 tumor cells and mouse fibroblasts genetically modified to produce GM-CSF. The animals were vaccinated with free B16 cells or cell complexes. We employed two gene plasmid constructions: one high producer (pMok) and a low producer (p2F). Tumor transplant was performed by injection of B16 tumor cells. Plasma levels of total IgG and its subtypes were measured by ELISA. Tumor volumes were measured and survival curves were obtained. Background The last Italian prevalence survey on chronic hepatitis (CH) conducted in 2001 showed that the hepatitis C virus (HCV) was the main agent associated with CH. Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate epidemiological changes in CH occurring after 13 years. In β-decay studies the determination of the decay probability to the ground state (g.s.) of the daughter nucleus often suffers from large systematic errors. The difficulty of the measurement is related to the absence of associated delayed γ-ray emission. In this work we revisit the 4πγ−β method proposed by Greenwood and collaborators in the 1990s, which has the potential to overcome some of the experimental difficulties. Our interest is driven by the need to determine accurately the β-intensity distributions of fission products that contribute significantly to the reactor decay heat and to the antineutrinos emitted by reactors. Uzturs un tā ietekme uz asaru plēvītes kvalitāti

Bakalaura darbs “Uzturs un tā ietekme uz asaru plēvītes kvalitāti” uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 33 lapām, satur 9 attēlus, 5 tabulas un 35 literatūras atsauces. Darba mērķis: noteikt saistību starp uzturu un asaru plēvītes kvalitāti. Metode: dalībniekiem bija jāievēro noteikta diēta. Viņu asaru plēvītes kvalitāte tika novērota 6 mēnešus – mērījumi tika veikti pirmajā vizītē un tad atkārtoti pēc 1, 3 un 6 mēnešiem ar BUT, Schirmer 1 un TBUT testu. Secinājumi: ievērojot noteiktu diētu, asaru plēvītes kvalitāte uzlabojas visas vecuma grupās, lai gan labāki rezultāti novērojami jaunākās vecuma grupās.
