The essay links the circular time of festivals with the theoretical activity of philosophy. To this goal, it examines the relation among play, festival, and experience of truth in Gadamer starting with a confrontation between Aristotle’s conception of the relation between play and philosophy and Gadamer’s own conception. The essay then shows how, by focusing anew on the religious origin of holidays, Perone further develops the temporal character of philosophy, which unfolds precisely in philosophy’s unavoidable tension with the eternal.

The proposed project shows the results obtained in the implementation and testing in lacustrine and marine environment of an innovative laterals hydro floating tilting systems control for USV or remote/autonomous surface nautical vehicles. This vehicle is based on a pending patent belonging to Palermo University (Patent Pending RM2012A000209 and RM2012A000209). The system allows, during operation as a vehicle USV, set changes sailing trim and make turns with very narrow angle with little shunting movements. Abstract Whilst studying a certain symmetric (99, 49, 24)-design acted upon by a Frobenius group of order 21, it became clear that the design would be a member of an infinite series of symmetric (2q2 + 1, q2, (q2 − 1)/2)-designs for odd prime powers q. In this note, we present the definition of the series and give some information about the automorphism groups of its members.

The article constitutes a prolegomenon to the issue of the service of Silesian Evangelicals in the Swedish army during the Great Northern War (1700 –1721), which has so far been absent in scholarly literature. The main objective of this text is to analyse their motives for joining the military service of the Kingdom of Sweden, as well as to trace their career and position in the officer corps. eIF2α confers cellular tolerance to S. aureus α-toxin

We report on the role of conserved stress-response pathways for cellular tolerance to a pore forming toxin. First, we observed that small molecular weight inhibitors including of eIF2α-phosphatase, jun-N-terminal kinase (JNK), and PI3-kinase sensitized normal mouse embryonal fibroblasts (MEFs) to the small pore forming S. aureus α-toxin. Sensitization depended on expression of mADAM10, the murine ortholog of a proposed high-affinity receptor for α-toxin in human cells. Similarly, eIF2α (S51A/S51A) MEFs, which harbor an Ala knock-in mutation at the regulated Ser51 phosphorylation site of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α, were hyper-sensitive to α-toxin. Ks. prof. dr hab. Adam Ludwik Szafrański był znany w środowisku jako promotor ludzi świeckich w Kościele. Dotyczyło to przede wszystkim, choć nie wyłącznie, ludzi świeckich studiujących teologię, co w okresie posoborowym było pewną nowością, ale też rodziło opory, obecne zresztą do dnia dzisiejszego. Zaangażowanie ks. Szafrańskiego w promocję laikatu wynikało z jego rozległej i głębokiej wiedzy teologicznej, szerokich horyzontów myślenia i otwartości. Wydaje się, że można zarysować trzy główne nurty uwarunkowań, które stanowiły podstawę promocji ludzi świeckich. Należą do nich uwarunkowania eklezjologiczne, uwarunkowania sakramentologiczne i uwarunkowania pastoralne.
