AbstractThe aim of this work is the design of a new customised elbow orthosis completely realized by Additive Manufacturing and the development of generative algorithms for parametric modelling and creation of 3D patterns to be adapted to the CAD model. This work describes a method to perfect the design of a custom elbow orthosis. A reverse engineering approach has been used to digitalize the patient’s arm and the subsequent CAD modelling of the structure of the custom elbow orthosis has been performed. Abstract UPM bio-fibrils are nano-structured cellulose fibers (nano-fibrils) produced by UPM Kymmene-Corporation, a Finnish company. This paper reports a preliminary study about nano-fibrils to determine their possible use for restoration of historical mortars and plasters. The aim of this study is to investigate the behavior of some mixtures added with nano-fibrils in their properties for conservative purposes. Selection of potential probiotic lactobacilli from pig feces to be used as additives in pelleted feeding

Thirty-five isolates from pig feces were identified as Lactobacillus reuteri (12 strains), Lactobacillus mucosae (7), Lactobacillus plantarum (6), Lactobacillus kitasatonis (3), Lactobacillus rossiae (2), Lactobacillus ultunensis (2), Lactobacillus crispatus (2), and Lactobacillus intestinalis (1) by partial sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA. All isolates were detected at 8-9 log CFU g(-1). Preliminarily, strains were selected based on resistance to heat treatments (ca. 70 degrees C for 10 s).
