Absorption of oxybutynin from vaginal inserts: drug blood levels and the response of the rabbit bladder.

2000

Abstract Objectives. Oxybutynin has been used for treatment of urge urinary incontinence for more than 20 years. However, one of the major problems with its use is uncomfortable anticholinergic side effects that can lead to discontinuation of treatment. Alternative forms of drug administration may reduce side effects and thus improve patient compliance. Methods. A cylinder-shaped, curved silicone elastomer insert containing oxybutynin was anchored in the vagina of female rabbits. The inserts were designed to release oxybutynin at rates of 0.5, 1.0, and 5.0 mg/day, respectively. Blood drug and metabolite levels were monitored for 1 to 7 days and cystometry was carried out after 7 days of tre…

Ecological Sensibility: Recovering Axel Honneth’s Philosophy of Nature in the Age of Climate Crisis

2020

What is “critical” about critical theory? I claim that, to be “critical enough”, critical theory’s future depends on being able to handle today’s planetary climate crisis, which presupposes a philo...

The wheel of collaboration tools

2006

Paper from the 2006 20th anniversary conference on Computer supported cooperative work We present a holistic framework for analyzing and specifying collaboration solutions, developed by an oil and gas company in response to practical needs in supporting integrated collaboration and information management. A typology of collaboration tool capabilities, termed the Wheel of Collaboration Tools (WCT), is described. We assess its contributions, and discuss areas of application and potential further development. Our intent is to stimulate discussion and research related to this type of collaboration modeling.

2012

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap- Universitetet i Agder 2012 The aim of this study was to investigate whether knowledge of the social loafing phenomenon affects motivational loss and individual effort reduction in groups. 27 participants aged 17-25 years completed two test sessions, in each of which they performed two maximal cycle time trials; one of relatively short duration (one minute) and one of relatively long duration (three minutes). The participants completed the first test session under individual conditions in which their individual performance was measured. Prior to the second test session, the participants in the intervention group were informed of the social loafing phenomenon…

Sling exercise therapy (SET) for children with impaired motor coordination : achieving distal control through proximal stability - a pilot study

2012

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap- Universitetet i Agder 2012 Purpose: This study examined the effect of an eight week Sling Exercise Therapy (SET) training programme in children and the response to their gross and fine motor coordination skills. Methods: The study was a non-controlled experimental design. An intervention group consisting of 13 boys aged 8 to 12 years identified with motor coordination difficulties trained in an eight week long SET programme designed to strengthen their proximal stabilizing musculature. Pre and post testing were performed using the Movement Assessment Battery for Children (M-ABC-2) and a self developed Grapho-motor Function Test for Children (GFTC) to quanti…

The impact of instability on force development and the effect of strength training under unstable conditions

2010

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap Universitetet i Agder 2010 Objective: The efficacy of maximal strength training on unstable surfaces remains unclear. The aims of this study were therefore to 1) quantify maximal dynamic force during a push-up movement with and without instability, 2) investigate whether training under unstable conditions would decrease the deficit between unstable and stable maximal force and 3) compare strength adaptations in the shoulder complex between traditional strength training and unstable strength training. Methods: 29 physically active university students (23 males, 6 females) performed maximal dynamic force tests under stable (explosive push-up on force platform,…

2011

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap -Universitetet i Agder 2011 Background: This study was conducted on the basis of the limited literature on fat metabolism among well-trained men during high-intensive training. Purpose: We have: 1) quantified the total energy expenditure and the substrate oxidation among well-trained men, during a high-intensity interval session and a continuous session matched for average workload, 2) compared the relative fat oxidation during a high-intensity interval session and a continuous session to the maximal fat oxidation rate identified by the Fatmax protocol of Achten, Gleeson and Jeukendrup and 3) compared the energy expenditure after a highintensity interval ses…

2011

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap-Universitetet i Agder 2011 The purpose of this study is to find possible explanations for students’ self-determined motivation in physical education. The basic variables looked at are: parental support, participation in physical activity at leisure time and activity level. This study was done in connection with the project "Moderne ungdom på fritiden", a study to determine what activities youth undertake during their spare time. The study included (n=2055) students representing 38 schools in Norway. Data collection was done through a quantitative survey. The results showed that the variables 1) parental support 2) participation in physical activity at leisur…
