Income and Physical Activity among Adults: Evidence from Self-Reported and Pedometer-Based Physical Activity Measurements

This study examined the relationship between income and physical activity by using three measures to illustrate daily physical activity: the self-reported physical activity index for leisure-time physical activity, pedometer-based total steps for overall daily physical activity, and pedometer-based aerobic steps that reflect continuous steps for more than 10 min at a time. The study population consisted of 753 adults from Finland (mean age 41.7 years; 64% women) who participated in 2011 in the follow-up of the ongoing Young Finns study. Income and Career Concerns Among Emerging Adults From Finland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom During COVID-19

In this study, we examine the prevalence of income and career concerns among emerging adults in three different welfare states during COVID-19: Finland ( n = 309), Sweden ( n = 324), and the United Kingdom ( n = 343). This study also delves into how factors such as one’s self-perceived financial situation, generalized mistrust, loneliness and socio-demographics are related to emerging adults’ income and career concerns. Results showed that individuals from the United Kingdom were more likely to experience increased income and career concerns than those in Finland and Sweden. Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας ήταν να διερευνηθούν οι επιδράσεις ορισμένων συμπεριφορών υγείας, όπως η άσκηση, το κάπνισμα και η κατανάλωση αλκοόλ στην ποιότητα ζωής ενηλίκων που βρίσκονται σε εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία. Το δείγμα της έρευνας ήταν 363 ενήλικες, (Μ.Ο. ηλικίας = 41.86, Τ.Α. = 11.42 έτη) που παρακολουθούσαν προγράμματα επιμόρφωσης, σε Κέντρο Εκπαίδευσης Ενηλίκων (ΚΕΕ). Χρησιμοποι- ήθηκαν ερωτηματολόγια για να καταγραφούν το κάπνισμα σε καθημερινή βάση, η κατανάλωση αλκοόλ σε εβδομαδιαία βάση, καθώς και η φυσική δραστηριότητα. Liekais svars un aptaukošanās pazemina dzīves kvalitāti un ir par iemeslu daudzām saslimšanām: diabētam, koronārajām sirds slimībām, onkoloģiskajām saslimšanām, metabolajam sindromam. Pētījuma mērķis ir izvērtēt uztura, fiziskās aktivitātes (FA) un miera vielmaiņas intensitātes (RMR) korelāciju ar ķermeņa tauku masu jaunu, pieaugušu, klīniski veselu cilvēku grupā. Pētījuma gaitā tika analizēta izmeklējamo personu 3 dienu uztura dienasgrāmata, fiziskā aktivitāte noteikta ar anketēšanas metodi, veikti antropometriskie mērījumi un reģistrēta miera vielmaiņas intensitāte ar netiešās kalorimetrijas metodi. Background Longitudinal studies demonstrate an average decline in physical activity (PA) from adolescence to young adulthood. However, while some subgroups of adolescents decrease activity, others increase or maintain high or low activity. Activity domains may differ between subgroups (exhibiting different PA patterns), and they offer valuable information for targeted health promotion. Developmental dynamics between young adults’ life satisfaction and engagement with studies and work

The present five-wave longitudinal study investigated the cross-lagged associations between young adults’ life satisfaction and study/work engagement over the transition from post-comprehensive studies to higher education or work during the second and third decades of life. Gender, educational track, academic performance and family socioeconomic status were also examined. The study is part of the longitudinal Finnish Educational Transitions (FinEdu) study, and used data from secondary education onwards, following 821 participants from age 17 to 25.
