Tieto, valta ja vastuu erityislasten hoidossa

Artikkelissa tarkastelen sitä, kuinka erityislasten vanhempien tieto ja asiantuntemus lasta koskevissa asioissa rakentuu ja kuinka siihen suhtaudutaan auttamistyön tilanteissa. Aineistoni koostuu vanhempien kokemuskertomuksista, joissa he kuvaavat erityislapsen vanhemmuuteen kasvua sekä kohtaamisia ammattilaisten kanssa auttamistyön kentillä. Tutkimukseni rakentaa kuvan epäsymmetriselle vallalle perustuvasta vuorovaikutuksesta, jossa ammattilaisen ja asiakkaan roolia määrittelevät kulttuuriset kategoriat vaikuttavat vanhempien mahdollisuuksiin osallistua auttamistyön neuvotteluihin. A phenomenological research of democracy education in a Finnish primary-school

This phenomenological research examines democracy education and the conditions contributing to young students’ democratic agency. The dataset includes interview and observation data from a school and educational decision-makers. The findings from the iterative analysis highlight the contradictions between democracy education as an ideal and opportunities for democratic agency. One significant contradiction was the expectation that young pupils should be competent democratic agents before being offered opportunities to act democratically. Dialogical view on learner agency of immigrant pupils : a case study of the learners of Finnish as L2

This study explores the dialogical nature of agency when two immigrant pupils, who are learning Finnish as their new target language, are authoring their selves. Bakhtin’s dialogism was the inspiration for this examination of the discourses that surround the L2 pupils’ agency and how they respond to discourses through their agency. Ethnographically oriented data collection included classroom observations, the pupils’ portfolios, and interviews with the pupils (as main participants) and meaningful adults. Regulatory frameworks on intra-EU mobility and flexible cross-border employment relations have stimulated competition on labour costs by recruiting migrants via cheaper labour market regimes. While it allows firms to remunerate migrants under different terms and conditions, blurring regulatory boundaries also generates opportunities for non-compliance, resulting in violations of migrant labour rights across Europe. Aiemmat tutkimukset ovat osoittaneet vastakkainasettelun luokassa ja luokan ulkopuolella tapahtuvassa kielenkäytössä ja oppimisessa. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelen neljää amerikkalaista suomenoppijaa ja sitä, miten he hakeutuvat aktiivisina toimijoina itsenäisiin suomen kielen käyttötilanteisiin. Artikkelin aineistona on portfoliotehtävä, jossa oppijat ovat dokumentoineet ja reflektoineet itsenäistä, luokkahuoneen ulkopuolella tapahtuvaa kielenkäyttöään. This socioculturally informed study explores how highly educated Finnish language learners represent their agency in visual narratives. Learners (n=59) were asked to draw two pictures of themselves as Finnish language users and provide verbal interpretations of the drawings. The aim of using visual narratives is to reach aspects such as feelings and beliefs which might be difficult to express verbally. The data were analyzed first by using visual grammar set out by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006) and secondly by content analysis.
