A High speed data link optimization for digitalized transfer to processing FPGA

2021

State-of-the-art arrays of detectors, that require digital processing, may have a sizeable number of digitalized signal links. This is the case in several experimental nuclear physics instruments. Moreover, the data rate of the sampled signals, defined primary by the signal bandwidth of the individual detectors, may not exhaust the capabilities of a single FPGA transceiver input. The preprocessing is usually carried out in a modern FPGA with transceiver data rate capabilities over 10Gbps. Moreover, cost effective FPGA have a limited number of transceivers for given FPGA processing capabilities. The investigation of a cost-effective and efficient solution to the mismatch between both data ra…

Copper Octacarboxyphthalocyanine Aggregation in Buffered Solutions

2008

Results of spectral UV-Vis absorption investigations on association of copper octa-carboxyphthalocyanine, CuPcOC, are reported. Influence of pH on association is discussed. In pH < 5.5 only ag gre gates are present. Monomer appears above pH = 5.5 and at pH Greater-than or equal to 6.2 only monomeric Pc forms exist. CuPcOC exhibits higher tendency to wards association in phosphate buffer solutions than in redistilled water. In pH 5.9–6.0 monomers, dimers and trimers coexist in equilibrium in 1.0×10–6 – 1.2×10–5 mol/dm3 concentration range at 25°C. The average assembling number n = 3 was determined for pH 5.6, 5.9 and 6.0 solutions. The spectrum of aggregate was calculated with two maxima at …

The occurrence of Echinorhynchus salmonis Müller, 1784 in benthic amphipods in the Baltic Sea

2015

The acanthocephalan Echinorhynchus salmonis Muller, 1784 is a common parasite of salmonid fish, but it has rarely been reported from an intermediate host. Samples of benthic amphipods, Monoporeia affinis (Lindstrom), were taken from multiple, deep sites (usually below 70 m) in the Gulf of Bothnia over the course of more than a decade and examined for acanthocephalans. Overall, only 0.44% of 23 296 amphipods were infected, all with just a single worm. This prevalence is consistent with several previous reports of acanthocephalans in deep-water, benthic amphipods, but it appears low compared to that often reported for acanthocephalan species infecting littoral amphipods. Parasite occurrence d…

Generalization Capacity Analysis of Non- Intrusive Load Monitoring using Deep Learning

2020

Appliance Load Monitoring is a technique used to monitor devices existing in homes, industry or naval vessels. Acquisition of device-level data can provide great benefits in many areas such as energy management, demand response, and load forecasting. However, the monitoring process is often provided with a costly installation, as it requires a large number of sensors and a data center. Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) is an alternative and cost-efficient load monitoring solution. Simply put, NILM is the process of obtaining device-level data by analyzing the aggregated data read from the main meter that measures the electricity consumption of the whole house. Before NILM analysis is per…

Chemical and physical characterization of thermal aggregation of model proteins modulated by zinc(II) and copper(II) ions

2016

BACKGROUND: Metal ions are implicated in protein aggregation processes of several neurodegenerative pathologies, where the protein deposition occurs, and in the biotechnology field like the food technology where many processes in food manufacturing are based on thermal treatments. OBJECTIVE: The influence of Cu2+ or Zn2+ ions on the thermal aggregation process of Bovine beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) and Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), two protein models, was studied with the aim of delineating the role of these ions in the protein aggregation kinetics and to clarify the related molecular mechanisms. METHODS: The protein structure changes were monitored by Raman spectroscopy, whereas the aggregate gr…

Metal ions modulate thermal aggregation of betalactoglobulin: a join chemical and physical characterization

2014

Abstract Molecular basis of the role played by Cu 2 + and Zn 2 + ions during the thermal aggregation processes of beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) was studied by using a joint application of different techniques. In particular, Raman spectroscopy was very useful in identifying the different effects caused by the two metals at molecular level (i.e. changes in His protonation state, disulfides bridge conformation, and micro-environment of aromatic residues), evidencing the primary importance of the protein charge distribution during the aggregation process. Both metal ions are able to act on this factor and favor the protein aggregation, but Zn 2 + is able to alter the natural conformational state of…

Identification of international media events by spatial and temporal aggregation of RSS flows of newspapers

2013

The GEOMEDIA research project (ANR Corpus, 2013-2015) aims to elaborate an international observatory of media events, based on the collection of RSS flows sent by 100 newspapers of French and English languages. This contribution (1) describes the complexity of the information contained in RSS flows according to space, time and media dimensions; (2) derives basic solutions for the identification of international events on the basis of procedures of time aggregation; (3) analyzes the spatial interaction between countries through an analysis of co-quotations in RSS flows; (4) checks the existence of possible interactions between the two previous dimensions.

Golgi Fragmentation in Neurodegenerative Diseases: Is There a Common Cause?

2019

In most mammalian cells, the Golgi complex forms a continuous ribbon. In neurodegenerative diseases, the Golgi ribbon of a specific group of neurons is typically broken into isolated elements, a very early event which happens before clinical and other pathological symptoms become evident. It is not known whether this phenomenon is caused by mechanisms associated with cell death or if, conversely, it triggers apoptosis. When the phenomenon was studied in diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, it was attributed to a variety of causes, including the presence of cytoplasmatic protein aggregates, malfunctioning of intracellular traffic and/or alterations i…
