Chimney Technique with Nellix EndoVascular Aneurysm Sealing System in a Patient with Single Kidney and Juxtarenal Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

AbstractWe present a saccular asymptomatic juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm in a 70-year-old male with a very short left renal artery supplying the only kidney. The case was successfully treated with the Nellix EndoVascular Aneurysm Sealing system combined with a chimney technique.

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) has become the treatment of choice for urinary calculi. 117 patients were studied prospectively with 99mTc mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG3) before and after ESWL. 79 (66%) of the 119 kidneys treated had abnormal findings. Of these 63/119 (53%) had abnormal scans. 41 (65%) had focal lesions with a delayed intrarenal transport. The remaining 22 had a diffuse delay of intrarenal transport. A loss of relative renal function of 3% and more compared to the pretreatment values was observed in 50/119 (42%) patients. 99mTc MAG3 should be done routinely together with radiologic tests (CT or MRI) before and after ESWL to select the patients at risk for post …

Two weeks to 120 months after enucleation of renal tumours the postoperative defects were correctly localized by renal computed tomography in 34 patients. Typical defect morphology was either wedge-shaped or concave. No dependence on tumour localization, tumour size, operative technique or a certain surgeon was observed. The cortical defects were smaller (mean 2.0 cm) than the original, prominent tumours (mean 3.4 cm). In small defects without tension suture of the capsule is sufficient, leading to minor defects. The indications and technique of local fibrinolysis therapy of acute renal artery occlusions are discussed in relation to four patients. Because of the short period for which ischaemia is tolerated by the kidney, the result of treatment depends largely on the time interval between occlusion and the beginning of treatment. Partial perfusion of the renal artery was obtained in three patients. Since the "ischaemia time" of the kidneys had been exceeded, it was not possible to obtain complete restitution of renal function in any of these patients.

PURPOSE To assess the practicability and image quality of doing MR arthrography of the shoulder using a 0.2T system. PATIENTS AND METHOD 60 patients (24 with chronic instability, 36 with impingement syndrome) were examined in an open 0.2T MR apparatus (Magnetom Open, Siemens).
