AbstractThe speciation of CI−, OH− and SO42- in synthetic sea water has been studied by Potentiometric measurements (pH-metric and ISE-Na methods) and by literature data analysis, using a well tested complex formation model. Stability constants, together with distribution of hypothesised species in synthetic sea water, as a function of temperature and salinity, are reported. The speciation model proposed in this work is discussed on the basis of chemical and statistical considerations. Comparison with some literature sea water models is given.
A Review on Molybdenum Determination in Solid Geological Samples

This review highlights the necessity for the development of proper sampling and storage, fast pretreatment methodology followed by highly sensitive detection for the determination of molybdenum in geological samples. Distribution of concentration and chemical speciation of molybdenum analysis in solid geological matrices have also been discussed.

The chemical characterization of the radionuclide species is essential for a reliable assessment of the migration of radionuclides and heavy metals into the geological and biological environment on the load pathway soil - plant - animal - human. Only a few is known about the speciation of uranium in plants. Therefore we investigate the change of speciation during the transfer of uranium from initial solution into plant. Transition-edge sensors for particle-induced X-ray emission spectrometry

A transition-edge sensor array has been applied to particle-induced X-ray emission. We have characterized the detector for quantitative analysis and obtained minimum detection limit over two orders of magnitude better compared to a silicon drift detector. We have also studied chemical effects in analysis of Ti, TiO2 and TiN using proton and heavy ion beams. A chemical shift for TiO2 was observed in proton measurements, and relative multiple ionization X-ray satellite line intensities changed between metallic Ti and other compounds with heavy ions.
