Scripsi manu mea Hartmann Schedel in Munich, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, clm 490
2014
The Padua-trained medical doctor Hartmann Schedel (1440–1514) of Nuremberg is today perhaps best known for his Liber Chronicarum, printed in Latin and German (Weltchronik) in 1493 with an ambitious programme of xylographies. Thanks to his well-spent study years in Padua (1463–1466), he also played an important role in the dissemination of Italian humanism north of the Alps, as witnessed, for example, by his important collection of inscriptions and Humanist texts. His rich library, consisting of manuscripts, both autographs and written by others, and printed books, was bought from his family by H. J. Fugger of Augsburg (1531–1598) in 1552. Fugger’s library was passed to the Bavarian Court Li…
Geomorphological and geophysical investigations to study the landslide affecting the archaeological site of abakainon
2016
In recent years, a detailed archeoseismological investigation has been carried out in the necropolis of Abakainon in order to identify traces of an ancient earthquake. Although the identification of seismic damage was undoubtedly attributed to the 1st century AD earthquake, it was hypothesised that the level of damaging observed in the necropolis, as well as the counter slope tilting of the tomb basements may have also caused by a seismo-induced landslide, which produced locally an amplification of the seismic shaking. In order to identify the landslide, on which the Greek site lies, detailed geomorphological and geophysical surveys have been carried out. The research was directed to the ac…
A siliciclastic shallow-marine turbidite on the carbonate shelf of the Ordovician Baltoscandian palaeobasin
2019
A metre-scale thick siltstone–sandstone lobe is described within the Dapingian outer ramp argillaceous limestone facies of the Baltoscandian palaeobasin. This bed is referred to as the Volkhov Oil Collector in previous studies due to its hydrocarbon accumulation potential. It formed on the palaeoslope of the regional Jelgava Depression, which represents an elongated axial region of the deepest part of the Ordovician Baltoscandian sedimentary basin. Sedimentological and petrological analysis of this siliciclastic bed in core sections shows that it was deposited as a result of a single event of turbidite flow. The internal structure of the turbidite bed follows the classical Bouma divisions o…

Entre el autor y el lector: producir libros manuscritos en catalán (siglos XII-XV)
2007

The present article deals with the material and personal circumstances that led to the production and circulation of Medieval Catalan Literary texts. Special attention has been paid to the material aspects (as studied by Palaeography and Codicology) of autograph manuscripts and their copies, taking into account that they had usually been imposed by those who had commissioned them.

En el presente artículo se analizan todos los condicionantes, personales y materiales, que intervinieron en los procesos de producción y circulación posterio…
Effects of canagliflozin on serum potassium in people with diabetes and chronic kidney disease: the CREDENCE trial
2021
Abstract Aims Hyperkalaemia is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and limits the optimal use of agents that block the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). In patients with CKD, sodium‒glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors provide cardiorenal protection, but whether they affect the risk of hyperkalaemia remains uncertain. Methods and results The CREDENCE trial randomized 4401 participants with T2DM and CKD to the SGLT2 inhibitor canagliflozin or matching placebo. In this post hoc analysis using an intention-to-treat approach, we assessed the effect of canagliflozin on a composite outcome of time to eith…
Kalcīts un tā veidošanās apstākļi augšējā devona Daugavas svītas dolomītos Latvijas centrālajā un austrumu daļā
2017
Bakalaura darbā “Kalcīts un tā veidošanās apstākļi augšējā devona Daugavas svītas dolomītos Latvijas centrālajā un austrumu daļā” ir raksturotas minerāla kalcīta fizikālās īpašības, mikroelementu saturs un veidošanās apstākļi. Pētījumi veikti 8 dolomīta atradnēs; ģeoloģiskajā griezumā un atradņu teritorijā salīdzinātas kalcīta īpašības. Testētas kalcīta fluorescences izpausmes, pētīti plānslīpējumi, raksturoti kalcītā sastopamie mikroelementi un oglekļa stabilo izotopu attiecības tajā. Secināts, ka kalcīts kristalizējies no atmosfēras ūdeņiem sauszemes apstākļos. Šis minerāls veidojies paleokarsta procesa beigu stadijā pēc iegruvumu izveidošanās. Atslēgas vārdi: mineraloģija, paleokarsts, f…
Three new species of Anacharis Dalman, 1823 (Hymenoptera: Figitidae), with revised taxonomy and distribution records of Palaearctic and Indomalayan s…
2018
An update of the current knowledge of Anacharis Dalman, 1823 for the Palaearctic and Indomalayan regions is given. The previously known Palaearctic species Anacharis antennata Belizin, 1951, Anacharis eucharoides (Dalman, 1818), Anacharis immunis Walker, 1835 and Anacharis parapsidalis Belizin, 1951 are redescribed. Three new species are described: Anacharis fergussoni sp. nov. from Europe, Anacharis norvegica sp. nov. from Norway and Anacharis belizini sp. nov. from Thailand, the first recorded Indomalayan species for the genus. Anacharis gracilipes Ionescu, 1969, is synonymized with A. eucharoides , while Anacharis flavidicornis Kieffer, 1910 is transferred to the genus Aegilips Haliday, …

2013
Descriptions of four new species of the genus Dinotrema Foerster with a mesoscutal pit and only medially sculptured propodeum are given. Dinotrema alysiae sp. n. (Denmark, England, Netherlands, Spain), D. paramicum sp. n. (Denmark, Finland), D. tirolense sp. n. (Italy) and D. valvulatum sp. n. (Denmark, Italy).
Aliens and dragons: purposefully-framed play and non-standard learning methods in teaching evolutionary processes to primary school pupils
2023
Evolutionary processes lie at the base of the entire observable biodiversity, both at present and in the geological past (i.e., in the fossil record). For this reason, the teaching of evolution should receive more recognition than it currently has (e.g., in Poland) and become accurately applied from the early formal education stages onwards. To test the possibility of effective teaching of evolution to primary school pupils, workshops using non-standard learning methods (‘purposefully-framed play’) were organised during childrens’ university (UNIKIDS) courses of one-hour sessions for 33 groups, comprising several to 20 participants, aged 7 to 12. The final task for all participants was to p…
