Pedagogical environments in education for six-year-old children in Finland and in the Netherlands

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on tarkastella pedagogisia toimintaympäristöjä 6-vuotiaiden lasten kasvatuksessa Suomessa ja Hollannissa sekä selvittää, löytyykö niiden välillä eroja tai yhtäläisyyksiä. Tutkimus rajattiin, mukaillen varhaiskasvatuksen laatuun keskittyviä tutkimuksia, tarkastelemaan pedagogisia strategioita sekä puitetekijöitä. Tutkimus oli laadullinen, ja se toteutettiin pääosin etnografian periaatteita noudattaen. Tutkimuksessa näkyy myös poikkikulttuurisen sekä vertailevan tutkimuksen ominaispiirteitä. Applying health promoting sports club standards in the Netherlands

This study explores health promotion activity of Dutch sports clubs by using the Health Promoting Sports Clubs (HPSC) standards, which are developed in Finland and here applied to the Dutch sports context. The standards consist of 23 items which cover different perspectives on health promotion. The standards form an overall HPSC index, which is used to create health promotion profiles for the sports clubs. 17 sports clubs from the municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch participated in this study, of which 42 club officials (1-6 per club) evaluated their own club on all HPSC standards on a five-point Likert scale. Regulatory frameworks on intra-EU mobility and flexible cross-border employment relations have stimulated competition on labour costs by recruiting migrants via cheaper labour market regimes. While it allows firms to remunerate migrants under different terms and conditions, blurring regulatory boundaries also generates opportunities for non-compliance, resulting in violations of migrant labour rights across Europe. Against this background, this thesis explores the agency of labour, more specifically of temporary migrant workers and unions, and the ways they cope with and respond to the competitive dynamics of the pan- European labour market.
