La presente Tesis Doctoral se enmarca principalmente en el campo de la química médica. Durante el desarrollo de este proyecto se han diseñado y preparado compuestos de diversa naturaleza, tanto de origen sintético como derivados de productos naturales, con el objetivo de analizar su acción farmacológica frente a importantes patologías que afectan a la sociedad actual. Se han establecido varias líneas de investigación que han permitido el desarrollo de nuevos agentes con potencial actividad antimalárica y antitumoral. El presente estudio se centra en realizar un análisis sociológico de la segregación de género que se manifiesta en la Formación Profesional, una etapa educativa con un marcado sesgo de género, que refleja una clara desigualdad de género. También se analizarán las posibles causas y las consecuencias que genera dicho fenómeno, a posteriori, tanto en la inserción laboral como en las condiciones de trabajo de las mujeres. Asimismo, se realizarán propuestas para reducir situaciones de desigualdad de género.

This study investigates whether neutrophil-induced endothelial damage involves apoptosis and whether it can be prevented by neutralization of neutrophil secretory products. Endothelial cells from human umbilical veins were coincubated with neutrophils from healthy donors and with sera from eight patients withP. falciparummalaria, three patients withP. vivaxmalaria, and three healthy controls. The influence of adult worm age and definitive host on the transmission of Echinostoma caproni: egg hatchability and miracidial infectivity.

AbstractWe analysed the influence of different ages of Echinostoma caproni adult worms reared in different definitive host-species on egg hatchability and miracidial infectivity. Eggs obtained from 2-, 4- and 6-week-old adult worms collected from rats, hamsters and mice, hatched miracidia that were used to infect laboratory-reared specimens of Biomphalaria glabrata. Highest egg hatchability was obtained with eggs derived from hamsters and mice. Egg hatchability did not seem to be affected by the age of E. caproni adult worms.
