Selective Guest Inclusion in Oxalate-Based Iron(III) Magnetic Coordination Polymers

The preparation and structural characterization of four novel oxalate-based iron(III) compounds of formulas {(MeNH3)2[Fe2(ox)2Cl4]·2.5H2O}n (1), K(MeNH3)[Fe(ox)Cl3(H2O)] (2), {MeNH3[Fe2(OH)(ox)2Cl2]·2H2O}n (3), and {(H3O)(MeNH3)[Fe2O(ox)2Cl2]·3H2O}n (4) (MeNH3+ = methylammonium cation and H2ox = oxalic acid) are reported here. 1 is an anionic waving chain of oxalato-bridged iron(III) ions with peripheral chloro ligands, the charge balance being ensured by methylammonium cations. 2 is a mononuclear complex with a bidentate oxalate, three terminal chloro ligands, and a coordinated water molecule achieving the six-coordination around each iron(III) ion. Abstract This paper reports the synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and magnetic characterization of two novel copper(II) dinuclear compounds including bis(imidazolyl) ligands and oxalate anions, [Cu2(BIM)2(C2O4)2]·4H2O (1) (BIM = bis(2-imidazolyl)methane) and [Cu2(BIK)2(C2O4)2] (2) (BIK = bis(2-imidazolyl)ketone). The oxalate anion acts as bidentate–monodentate in both cases, although it exhibits different coordination bridging modes: whereas in compound 1 a μ1,1,2-oxalato is observed, a μ1,2,3-oxalato is found in compound 2. Abstract Two new copper(II) complexes of formula [Cu2(2,5-dpp)(C2O4)2(H2O)4] (1) and [Cu2(2,5-dpp)(C5O5)2(H2O)4]·3H2O (2) [2,5-dpp = 2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, C2O42− = oxalate and C5O52− = croconate (dianion of 4,5-dihydroxycyclopent-4-ene-1,2,3-trione)] have been prepared and their structures determined by X-ray crystallographic methods. Compounds 1 and 2 are dinuclear complexes where the 2,5-dpp molecule acts as a bis-bidentate bridge between the two copper(II) ions, the electroneutrality being achieved by the presence of bidentate oxalate (1) and croconate (2) ligands. Abstract The syntheses, structures and magnetic properties of the compounds [FeII(imid2-trien)][MnII(CH3OH)CrIII(ox)3]2·(CH3OH)4(CH3CN)(H2O) (1), [FeII(tren(6-Me-py)3)][MnIICrIII(ox)3][MnII(CH3OH)0.58(H2O)0.42CrIII(ox)3]·(CH3OH)2(CH3CN)0.5(H2O)0.42 (2) and [FeII(tren(imid)3)]2[Mn2.5(CH3OH)3Cr3(ox)9]·(CH3OH)4.75·(H2O)4.25 (3) are reported. They are prepared by the insertion of FeII-Schiff base complexes derived from imidazole and pyridine into bimetallic oxalate networks. Different types of 3D oxalate networks are obtained for each templating cation. The combination of genetic material from different antibiotic-producing organisms is a versatile and ever-expanding approach for the production of novel, hybrid compounds possessing bioactivity. The introduction of a plasmid (pSY21b) derived from Streptomyces nogalater and encoding PKS for nogalamycin production into the host strain S. argillaceus A43 led to the production of three new compounds in addition to the normally produced mithramycin. The new compounds are hybrids in the sense that they share features associated with the genes of both the host and the introduced plasmid. In this work, an improved CE method for the medium-throughput determination of main organic acids (oxalate, malate, citrate), the amino acid glutamate and the sugars fructose, glucose and sucrose in several food matrices is described. These compounds have been identified as key components in the taste intensity of fruit and vegetable crops. Using a running buffer with 20 mM 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid pH 12.1 and 0.1% hexadimethrine bromide, replacing it every 5 h to avoid pH decrease, and optimizing capillary conditioning between runs with 58 mM SDS during 2 min at 20 psi, it is possible to effectively quantify these compounds while increasing medium throughput repeatability. Abstract Two new salts composed of the diprotonated 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) molecule as the cations and bromide and hydrogen oxalate as the anions have been isolated and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The salt [DABCOH2]{[HC2O4][Br]} (1) crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group P212121 with a = 9.0809(7), b = 9.5156(7), c = 12.3558(9) Å, V = 1067.67(14) Å3 and Z = 4. The synthesis, structure, and physical properties of the oxalate-based molecular magnets with the formula [ZII(bpy)3][ClO4][MIIFeIII(ox)3] (ZII = Fe, Ru; MII = Mn, Fe; bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine; ox = oxalate dianion) are presented here. All compounds are isostructural and crystallize in the chiral cubic space group P4132, and contain three-dimensional dimetallic networks formed by alternating MII and MIII ions that are connected by oxalate anions. These compounds exhibit strong antiferromagnetic interactions that give rise to magnetic ordering as ferrimagnets or weak ferromagnets, with critical temperatures of up to 20 K, which is twice as high as those found for the isostructural magnets based…
