The Calderón problem for the fractional Schrödinger equation
2020
We show global uniqueness in an inverse problem for the fractional Schr\"odinger equation: an unknown potential in a bounded domain is uniquely determined by exterior measurements of solutions. We also show global uniqueness in the partial data problem where the measurements are taken in arbitrary open, possibly disjoint, subsets of the exterior. The results apply in any dimension $\geq 2$ and are based on a strong approximation property of the fractional equation that extends earlier work. This special feature of the nonlocal equation renders the analysis of related inverse problems radically different from the traditional Calder\'on problem.
Degassing and Cycling of Mercury at Nisyros Volcano (Greece)
2019
Nisyros Island (Greece) is an active volcano hosting a high-enthalpy geothermal system. During June 2013, an extensive survey on Hg concentrations in different matrices (fumarolic fluids, atmosphere, soils, and plants) was carried out at the Lakki Plain, an intracaldera area affected by widespread soil and fumarolic degassing. Concentrations of gaseous elemental mercury (GEM), together with H2S and CO2, were simultaneously measured in both the fumarolic emissions and the atmosphere around them. At the same time, 130 samples of top soils and 31 samples of plants (Cistus creticus and salvifolius and Erica arborea and manipuliflora) were collected for Hg analysis. Mercury concentrations in fum…
The first part of this note is dedicated to the life, the works and the bibliographical "status quaestionis" of Baudry of Bourgueil, an important medieval latin poet who lived between the XI and XII centuries. The second part, instead, focuses on the recent book of Francesca SIVO, Follia d’amore. La “fabu…
Arynic species; effect of substituents on the reactivity of monosubstituted dehydrobenzenes
1986
Abstract Evidence is presented demonstrating the existence of free dehydrobenzenes in the thermal decomposition of diaryliodonium-2-carboxylates, and that o-benzyne itself and its 4-methyl-, 4-chloro-,4-bromo- and 4-nitro-derivatives are generated from insoluble polymer-bound precursors and trapped by a second solid phase in Diels-Alder reactions. Lifetimes for these elusive species are determined.

The geological CO2degassing history of a long-lived caldera
2015
The majority of the ~100 Holocene calderas on Earth host vigorously active hydrothermal systems, the heat and volatile budgets of which are sustained by degassing of deeply stored magma. Calderas may thus contribute a nontrivial, although poorly quantified, fraction of the global budget of magmatic volatiles such as CO2. Here we use original isotopic a d petrological results from Campi Flegrei volcano, Italy, to propose that hydrothermal calcites are natural mineral archives for the magmatic CO2 that reacted with reservoir rocks during the geological history of a caldera. We show that Campi Flegrei calcites, identified in core samples extracted from 3-km-deep geothermal wells, formed at iso…
Architecture and 15 ka to present volcano-tectono-sedimentary evolution of the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff caldera offshore the Campi Flegrei, (Naples, Ea…
2012
The Campi Flegrei area is structurally dominated by the caldera associated with the eruption of the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff (NYT), a 40 km3 DRE ignimbrite dated at ca 15 ka BP [Deino et al., 2004], The volcanological evolution of the NYT caldera as been long described on the basis of outcrop and subsurface studies onland [Rosi & Sbrana, 1987; Orsi et al., 1996, and references therein; Di Vito et al., 1999; Perrotta et al., 2006; Fedele et al., 2011], but its offshore morphology, the stratal geometry of the volcaniclastic products and structures and the late-stage geodynamic evolution of the inner caldera resurgence are still poorly known. We integrate geological and geophysical data obtained…

Introduzione a Lunaria: Consolo versus Calderón
2006
