Alpha-decay energies of superheavy nuclei for the Fayans functional

2016

Alpha-decay energies for several chains of super-heavy nuclei are calculated within the self-consistent mean-field approach by using the Fayans functional FaNDF$^0$. They are compared to the experimental data and predictions of two Skyrme functionals, SLy4 and SkM*, and of the macro-micro method as well. The corresponding lifetimes are calculated with the use of the semi-phenomenological formulas by Parkhomenko and Sobiczewski and by Royer and Zhang.

Recoil-α-fission and recoil-α–α-fission events observed in the reaction 48Ca + 243Am

2016

Products of the fusion-evaporation reaction 48Ca + 243Am were studied with the TASISpec set-up at the gas-filled separator TASCA at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt, Germany. Amongst the detected thirty correlated α-decay chains associated with the production of element Z=115, two recoil-α-fission and five recoil-α-α-fission events were observed. The latter five chains are similar to four such events reported from experiments performed at the Dubna gas-filled separator, and three such events reported from an experiment at the Berkeley gas-filled separator. The four chains observed at the Dubna gas-filled separator were assigned to start from the 2n-evaporation ch…

Proton decay of 108I and its significance for the termination of the astrophysical rp-process

2019

Abstract Employing the Argonne Fragment Mass Analyzer and the implantation-decay-decay correlation technique, a weak 0.50(21)% proton decay branch was identified in 108I for the first time. The 108I proton-decay width is consistent with a hindered l = 2 emission, suggesting a d 5 2 origin. Using the extracted 108I proton-decay Q value of 597(13) keV, and the Q α values of the 108I and 107Te isotopes, a proton-decay Q value of 510(20) keV for 104Sb was deduced. Similarly to the 112,113Cs proton-emitter pair, the Q p ( I 108 ) value is lower than that for the less-exotic neighbor 109I, possibly due to enhanced proton-neutron interactions in N ≈ Z nuclei. In contrast, the present Q p ( Sb 104 …

Decay spectroscopy of Pb97182179 and evidence for a 9/2− intruder state in Tl98181179

2017

The very neutron-deficient isobars Pb-179 and Tl-179 have been produced using the fusion-evaporation reactions Pd-104(Kr-78,xpyn), where x = 2. The gas-filled separator RITU was employed to transpo ...

Cross section systematics for the lightest Bi and Po nuclei produced in complete fusion reactions with heavy ions

2005

The production of the very neutron-deficient nuclides $^{184\ensuremath{-}192}\mathrm{Bi}$ and $^{186\ensuremath{-}192}\mathrm{Po}$ in the vicinity of the neutron midshell at N = 104 has been studied by using heavy-ion-induced complete fusion reactions in a series of experiments at the velocity filter SHIP. In-beam and decay spectroscopy of transfermium nuclei

2008

Abstract In recent years the body of experimental data on nuclei with masses A ≃ 250 has increased dramatically. Nuclei that had been out of reach for experimental studies have now become available for study through a variety of approaches, both with in-beam spectroscopic methods and through spectroscopy following the decay of isomeric states or alpha decays at the focal plane of powerful separators. This article aims to collect the currently available experimental data on nuclei between Cm ( Z = 96 ) and Db ( Z = 105 ) . The review of this data builds on the evaluations in the literature and focusses on those datasets obtained most recently.

α-decay spectroscopy of the new isotopeAt192

2006

Decay properties of the new neutron-deficient nuclide $^{192}\mathrm{At}$ have been studied in the complete fusion reaction $^{144}\mathrm{Sm}$($^{51}\mathrm{V}$,3n)$^{192}\mathrm{At}$ at the velocity filter SHIP. Two isomeric states with half-lives of 88(6) ms and 11.5(6) ms, respectively, and with complex $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-decay schemes were identified in $^{192}\mathrm{At}$. The decay pattern of one of the isomers suggests that it is based on the oblate-deformed $\ensuremath{\pi}2{f}_{7/2}\ensuremath{\bigotimes}\ensuremath{\nu}1{i}_{13/2}$ configuration, which confirms the expected onset of deformation in the At isotopes by approaching the neutron midshell at $N=104$.

The decay of 0.57 s114Cs

1980

Fusion reactions between58Ni projectiles and58Ni target nuclei were used to produce114Cs activity, which was studied by on-line mass separation and decay spectroscopy. The obtained half-life of 0.57±0.02 s and the probability ratio of 44±3 between betadelayed proton and beta-delayed alpha emission represent data with improved precision. The absolute branching ratios for both particle decay modes were determined to be (7 ±2)×10−2 and (1.6±0.6)×10−3, respectively. These branching ratios and the shapes of particle spectra are discussed with reference to the statistical model calculations. Groundstate alpha decay of114Cs was observed with an alpha energy of 3,226±30 keV and a branching ratio of…
