Adaptive radiation is considered an important mechanism for the development of new species, but very little is known about the role of thermal adaptation during this process. Background The pathogenesis of idiopathic monomorphic ventricular tachycardia is not clear. We suppose that a lack of balance of the sympathetic system could be involved. Frequency domain analyses of the heart rate can be useful to understand autonomic system balance. Therefore we performed this evaluation on a sample of seven children affected by idiopathic monomorphic ventricular tachycardia. Methods and results We performed a Holter recording for palpitations on all the children, with an average age of 12 (range: 7-18 years). The paper presents results of phytosociological researches on rock faces vegetation of Pamir Alai Mountains. In total, 182 phytosociological relevés were made during the field studies conducted in 2006–2012, applaying the Braun-Blanquet method. Plant communities of calcareous firm rock faces and small fissures, inhabiting mainly the alpine and subnival zone in several ranges (e.g. Zeravshan Mts, Hissar Mts, Hazratishoh Mts, Darvaz Mts, Rushan Mts and Vanch Mts) are herein described for the first time. We collected 222 phytosociological relevés during field studies conducted in 2015–2019, applying the Braun-Blanquet approach. AbstractThis paper presents the results of research conducted on chasmophytic vegetation occurring within the alpine belt (approx. 1,850–4,000 m a.s.l.) in the eastern part of Middle Asia. We specifically focused on the diversity and syntaxonomy of rock vegetation as well as on environmental variables determining its distribution. Altogether, 242 relevés were sampled in rock fissures, ledges, and clefts during field surveys conducted in 2013–2019. The size of each recorded vegetation plot was 1 m2. Isolated torsion of fallopian tube, meanwhile uncommon, should be considered in diagnosis of pelvic and lower abdominal pain. US investigation is an useful diagnostic tool. A prompt diagnosis could avoid salpingectomy and preserve fertility. Laparoscopy, as the first approach, should be preferred. We report a case of isolated tubal torsion occurring in a premenarcheal girl successfully managed by laparoscopy.
Modelling wet and dry spells for daily rainfall data series: an application to irrigation management in North-West Italy

Rainfall time variability is relevant for agricultural production. The daily time scale is often used in modelling crop and soil water balance. In this work a novel statistical analysis of wet and dry spells is presented, together with an application in an Italian area characterised by a relevant climate spatial variability, due to the presence of both high mountains (e.g.: Mont Blanc) and of the Mediterranean Sea.
