Positions constructed in specialist health care for patients experiencing intimate partner violence

The aim of this study was to examine the positions that health personnel in specialist health care construct for patients experiencing intimate partner violence. It was also studied whether these constructed positions were challenged by other health care professionals and if so, how. The method of analysis chosen was discourse analysis. The data in this study was part of a larger development and research project Violence Intervention in Specialist Health Care (VISH), which was funded by the EU Daphne III Program in 2009–2010. The everyday and spectacle of subdued citizenship in northern Uganda

Drawing on ethnographic research in the Acholi town of Kitgum in northern Uganda, this chapter illustrates how citizenship practices are embedded in particular relationships between the state and its citizens. Two key arenas for learning are identified: the everyday, which in this region is tinged by memories of past violence and fears of its recurrence, and moments of spectacular state performance such as the burial of a prominent politician. Alterations in dynamic neuromuscular control may cause significant stress on the musculoskeletal system, and increase the risk of both acute and overuse injuries. Tutkimukseni kohteena ovat vuoden 2014 valtion tutkimuslaitosten ja tutkimusrahoituksen kokonaisuudistuksessa uudistetut tutkimuksen tiedepoliittiset ohjauskeinot. Uudistuksessa mm. yhdisteltiin tutkimuslaitoksia suuremmiksi yksiköiksi, vahvistettiin niiden ohjauskeinoja ja poikkihallinnollisia yhteistyörakenteita sekä perustettiin niiltä siirretyllä rahoituksella uudet strategisen tutkimuksen ja valtioneuvoston tutkimus- ja selvitystoiminnan kilpaillut rahoitusvälineet, joita valtioneuvosto ohjaa päättämällä tutkimuksen teema- ja painopistealueista. Framing War and the Nonhuman in Science-Fiction Television: The Affective Politics of V

This article investigates how war between humans and aliens is framed in the original and reimagined versions of the SF television series V and the affective responses and ethical considerations that these frames evoke. Inspired by the work of Judith Butler and Sarah Ahmed and by posthumanist thinking, I analyse how SF television takes part in the cultural formation of “livable lives” for both human and nonhuman beings. It is argued that the kinds of violence that art or the media, including fiction, represent matter for the formation of ethical and political responses to violence. peerReviewed
