Esittelemme kriittistä militarismitutkimusta (engl. Critical Mfilitary Studies) ja tutkimuksellisia näkökulmia suomalaiseen militarismiin ja militarisaatioon. Pohdimme, millaisia ilmentymiä militarismi ja militarisaatio saavat Suomessa, ja hahmottelemme mahdollisia tulevan tutkimuksen suuntia. Pyrimme herättämään keskustelua suomalaisen yhteiskunnan militarisaatiosta, sotilaallisen vallan koskemattomuudesta sekä ekseptionalistisesta asemasta suomalaisessa yhteiskunnassa. Tuomme esiin tarvetta kriittiselle militarismitutkimukselle avoimemman ja monipuolisemman sotilaallista valtaa koskevan keskustelun ja tutkimuksen edistämiseksi. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan laadullisen kyselyaineiston (N=180) avulla suomenkielisten, 15–25-vuotiaiden nuorten kokemuksia pelikäytöksestä digitaalisten pelien parissa. Teema-analyysin avulla rakennetut teemat valottavat epäasiallisen pelikäytöksen syitä ja seurauksia, kilpailullisten pelien suunsoittokulttuuria, pelikulttuureissa esiintyvää rakenteellista syrjintää, sekä myönteistä pelikäytöstä. Pelikäytös näyttäytyy artikkelissa monipuolisena ja monimutkaisena kokonaisuutena, johon vaikuttavat niin yksilöiden ominaisuudet ja mieltymykset kuin pelikulttuurien ja yhteiskunnan rakenteet. The Standard Model (SM) is the best description of fundamental particles and their interactions we have to date. From this theory, all phenomena in the macroscopic world (except for gravity) can be explained, and it has successfully predicted all outcomes of particle experiments on Earth. However, cosmological observations of the early Universe yield a large imbalance between its content of matter and antimatter, which is several orders of magnitude above the SM prediction. To explain these observations, new interactions that do not respect the charge-parity symmetry must exist beyond the SM. Such interactions would induce electric dipole moments (EDMs) in known particles. In Part I of the …

The aim of this thesis is to partially address some of the current physical unknowns by studying the effects of new physics on the predictions of the Standard Model for several observables. The thesis is organized in 3 parts. In Part I we introduce the two frameworks that serve as the building blocks of the material presented in the rest of the text. Part II and III are then devoted to present the core of the work done during the PhD. Each of the aforementioned parts contains 2 chapters.
